Some of them were great, like 8 Mile Road, Til The End, Warrior pt II, Ghetto Gospel, Running, Don’t You Trust Me and more.

But I think the biggest problem with half of them were s-----y drums by Eminem. Stuff like Crazy In Love, Fack, a half of Encore

Imagine having to ask google to get an AI answer lmfao.

COMC if anything is mostly guitar driven, with the piano just being a secondary additive instrument.

primary instrument and melody is definately piano. but its not that type of beat to call "heavy piano driven".

when i listened to the instrumental again i just realised drum pattern is soooo Eminem. i knew its Dj head... i checked again and saw dj head is credited for "additional" drum programming. so it is eminem and dj head. that is very first significant Eminem type of drum that he will do following years. same as "i'm a soldier"... check credits.

That riff was definitely written on the guitar that you hear throughout. And that’s what drives it. It also has more heavier guitars during the chorus.

Cleaning Out My Closet is a strange one. DJ Head claimed in an interview that he did the basics of the beat and tracked it all out whilst Eminem was at an award show (I think). And DJ Head is credited with the drum programming.

But Jeff Bass said that was the first time Eminem ever did his own drums and worked the drum machine, and that’s why the drum pattern is so unorthodox and the snares are kinda weird because it was Ems first time doing drums.

Head definitely did Soldier. This is what he said to me on Insta a few month ago regarding his drum
    Programming style:

He does, but it’s also only additional. Credits list him for also doing white america and SFTM fully and additional on without me. I really thought he did more but he does almost every Bass brothers song on MMLP (just not Kim and under the influence)

I think it’s a fine line with the word “additional”. Jeff Bass solely credits him as the creator of the drum pattern for Without Me, and has also said most Em songs during that era would start with Head on the drum machine doing a drum pattern and then the ones Em would like they would start building music around it.

I wouldn’t get too bogged down with the word “additional” on the credits. If his name is credited to the drum programming, whether it says additional or not, it’s high likely he created that drum pattern.

if someone is credited as additional it means there is another one mainly doing that s--- (drum programming or producing).

anyway... those were the good days Jeff Bass, DJ Head and Eminem making music together. that f---ing sp 1200 analog drum sound and jeff's organic/acoustic/live guitar and keyboard compositions with prime Eminem vision.

it is also f---ing weird both Dj head and Jeff Bass stopped making beats for other talents. Jeff tried with King Gordy and actually it was awesome. Since "beautiful" jeff bass almost got no production credits for any music came out. Same as Dj Head. I guess he is executive producing a new detroit artist called "valid" but seems he is just guiding him, no producing beats for him. Maybe u can ask him on instagram.

I always wondered whose idea it was to add the marching sounds in the chorus of Soldier, and that kind of reverse vocal sound effect that comes in. Always assumed it was Steve King during the mixing process.

Head responded to me a couple times on Insta but I asked him if he ever worked on “Dear Ronnie” and he never responded after that lol.

Jeff did have some involvement in 8 Mile because he said they sent people with a tape recorder to record the train track sounds you hear on the song 8 Mile.

That’s true. I do remember him saying that in one of his interviews.
