Jan 2, 2026 at 9:48 AM i thought they were great at the time, but looking back it’s his weakest era for features for sure. except maybe the cmon lemme ride-numb-here comes the weekend-ltwyl2 era lol
Jan 2, 2026 at 11:07 AM Hailies Song credits Dre’s mix engineers as well as Eminems, implying it was at least partly recorded at one of Dre’s studios (or with Dre’s people when he came to Detroit to work on TES) and is the only song on TES that credits both Dre and Steve King for mixing it. I wonder wether Dre actually produced the original “weeps” version, where the third verse was kept from, which qualified him for a mixing credit, and Em/Resto/King did the later worked version. Also, if it is true that the original version was Dre-produced, it would also line up with he story Eminem told about his original plan not to release it until Dre played it to some women and they cried. He must have been talking about the original version, because only after deciding to put it on the album would he have had to ask for the sampling rights, gets denied and then eventually have to re-work it. Just makes me more curious as to what the original sounded like that made the women cry.
Jan 2, 2026 at 11:54 AM Obviously I was comparing "Primeniem" to "Pillinem", and as examples to highlight the difference I chose two songs with related content "a seed who would grow up just as crazy as she / would grow to be my mother's evil seed and do these evil deeds" -- criminals commit "evil deeds". This comparison is also apt since Eminem evidently meant to start off Encore where MMLP left off. In the former he starts off a verse bragging about being an evil disfigured drug baby (), while in the latter he begins by complaining about the overuse of "predominantly" (or padomanently) by...social commentators (I guess?). Far from great, it's one of his worst songs.
Jan 2, 2026 at 12:02 PM well since encore originally started with we as americans, encore still technically starts where mdgc leaves off, with 9/11 references
Jan 2, 2026 at 12:05 PM Sadly unless it leaks we'll probably never get to hear it. I wonder if it was in the so-called "motherload", since it was supposed to include songs from the TES era and on.
Jan 2, 2026 at 12:09 PM The first verse is all right. I agree the beat is pretty trashy. Looks like a job for Dr. Stanley (maybe someday).
Jan 2, 2026 at 12:42 PM Guys I realized one thing! Proof is dead for 20 years this April. I can see the D12 album being released, maybe in April, then. I could live with no Em solo until the end of the year if Em is all over the D12 album. On the other hand, an Em solo soon with a D12 feature announcing that they have music together on the upcoming D12 album also would be a boss move.
Jan 2, 2026 at 2:34 PM Thats all fine and dandy except theres a whole album between Criminal and Evil Deeds. The connection you made can be made with a number of other songs in between.
Jan 2, 2026 at 2:44 PM When you think about, Stan, Sing for The Moment and Renegade to Big Weenie, Rain Man and a--- Like That in the short span of literally less than 4 years is absolutely horrific. Not just one of the worst fall offs OAT, but one of the quickest too.
