Jan 1, 2026 at 2:06 PM I like the idea of it, but not the execution. Feels unpolished, abrupt, too loud. If the verse was left in, I bet it would have been reworked.
Jan 1, 2026 at 2:41 PM Yeah and he sounds so natural saying it, even though it's so unnaturally written. Which is why I think 'Relapse' was and still is (I think he just mostly disowned it due to the reaction) exactly what he wanted to make, and how he wanted to sound. And in a way his most 'him' album. Like, I think it's him geeking out on exactly how he wants to word things to maximise word sounds and rhymes etc. Wheras, Take then 'Recovery'... it's the opposite of that. It's clunky and clumsy sounding. Because it's exactly what he said he didn't want to do when he came back. But then just 180'd and bowed to the mixed reaction instead of standing his ground.
Jan 1, 2026 at 2:43 PM You would probably say that if that verse were on Relapse, unreworked, it would be one of the weakest, and yet Stay Wide Awake, almost universally thought to be one of the best tracks, is filled with lazy/bad writing and execution. Worst of all at the end of the final verse he devolves into baby talk and broken English for no apparent reason. This isn't "clumsy" to you? You'll probably say it goes with the zany serial killer theme or whatever, but no excuse you can come up with changes the fact that he sounds like an absolute imbecile here. That leaked verse, otoh, is dripping with personality and wit. It's actually reminiscent of vintage Slim Shady, even if in its own ridiculous, fun house mirror way.
Jan 1, 2026 at 4:20 PM execution of Stay Wide Awake is flawless. So what if he switched it into "baby talk" at the end of 3rd verse? It's a long song. Like the yoda talk in Buffalo Bill, it's a fun moment. Jabba the Hutt part is often criticized, but I see nothing wrong with it. That's an imbecile killer with accent and I love it. That kind of random thing serves the character well. I can see 2nd verse having lazy writing because there's too many "see", but you cannot say the execution is lazy. And umbrella part is great. I know that's a common cringe point. I love Things Get Worse entirely, but I find the other two verses better than this one.
Jan 1, 2026 at 4:28 PM I used to love her hooters now carmen elektra's cuter Strap an extension cord to her arm and electrocute her I’m off my f---ing meds but I’m on an electric scooter I might just scoot by and s---t my mom in the neck with rugers for some reason i just love the way this part sounds
Jan 1, 2026 at 4:29 PM I will Cashapp $15.00 for a Clean Acapella of the 1st verse of the leaked Follow Me Feat. Nate Dogg
Jan 1, 2026 at 4:38 PM I can't currently think of any actually menacing accent verse. No matter what he's saying, it sounds playful and you can't be mad at him. But the third verse of Love Drunk is uncharacteristically harsh and crass, as weird as it is to say that in context of Relapse. For some reason I cringe at "I kick her while I lick her clitoris / she swallowed all my semen and slit her wrist". It's just disgusting without being funny.
Jan 1, 2026 at 4:57 PM All this Relapse talk got me thinking of my favorite verses. So many fun ones.
Jan 1, 2026 at 5:05 PM 'cause I don't read every Letter I get, but somethin' told me to go ahead and open it, but Why would someone pray for you when they don't know you?
Jan 1, 2026 at 5:18 PM Relapse era should have started and ended with Chemical Warfare. Dre should have told this grown a--- immature freak that the s--- he was putting over his beats was WACK. If it wasn’t for the terrible Relapse accent era with people like Dre, Denaun, Paul and others telling him how to dress and being complete yes-men, we wouldn’t have gotten the even worse Recovery era, filled with corny, screaming, bubblegum pop s--- with terrible katy perry/lady gaga ahh beats and if we didn’t get Recovery it never would have led to the equally as bad if not worse MMLP2, which then led to Revival, and then the rest of the utterly terrible music we’ve had to endure since. It’s all Relapse’s fault. Could have had such a different/better trajectory for his career, musically, rapping-wise, maybe even personality and character wise over the last 15 years, if it wasn’t for that terrible excuse for an album.
