Dec 12, 2025 With the NY State of Mind title it just felt underwhelming. The album picks up in the middle, but on the first listen nothing really stood out , I’ll probably have to run it back a few times and see if it grows on me
Dec 12, 2025 Tarzan, you never delivered my new wife. I think you sent her to the wrong house, dude. The name is Ripper Roo, not Rooper Rii. Common misconception. Look for the pride flag hanging out front. Also check out this Nas album bro, I gotta do the same.
Dec 12, 2025 I’m a product of Common, Nas and Rakim All I ever wanted was commas like them So I started working on my punctuation; Now my punchlines are heavy weighted Biggie to the Midgets, Pac to Kim I hit em’ up to heaven with my best Friend And Proof is in the Sausages You can all get this d-ck That’s why they call me misogynist It’s a Misconception in the kitchen Now get them Oven Mitts on b---- And hold the door open for Slim
Dec 12, 2025 I feared this would happen... Production is really hit and miss or just whatever. Seems like Premier is good choice for a joint here and there, but not a whole project.
Dec 12, 2025 Nas did his thing these beats aren't it though. Album isn't terrible just not as good as expected. I wont complain though. They've both done there s--- in hip hop.
Dec 12, 2025 I think there’s a lot to be said about this album. For now on first listen I’ll say I think it’s overall a good album with a surprising amount of duds. 7/10 although I could see the argument for this being a 6/10 or an 8/10
Dec 13, 2025 at 12:50 PM This project is weird. I think it's low-key excellent but makes a horrendous first impression. It's taking me a while to get my head around it, yet many tracks are emerging as gems. Biggest issue for me: it's not sequenced particularly well, and within the first 4 tracks you have the 3 most off-putting. Not a fan of Welcome to the Underground's beat, GiT Ready is a bit corny with its tech bro talk, and then there's NY State of Mind pt. 3 which seems to be dividing opinion everywhere. After that the whole thing flows pretty smoothly. Tracks 5-15 are rock solid to me. Early favourites are It's Time, Nasty/Esco/Nasir, Madman & Junkie. I like NSOM3 though I totally understand why people wouldn't. I think it would have made a much better closer for the album, and shouldn't have had the famous name on it. Then you'd get a cool little surprise at the end instead of a tremendous amount of expectations being subverted right near the start.
Dec 19, 2025 at 9:25 PM While some beats are really monotonous, I gotta admit Madman and Junkie have been stuck in my head lately.
