Oct 10, 2025 at 12:06 AM I figure some people here would be interested in this along with me @pHiLLip fARkLe @Minato @Yeez @Jimmy Jazz
Oct 10, 2025 at 3:46 AM s---, thanks man. Gonna check this out for sure. This came out of nowhere for me lol, definitely didn’t expect it.
Oct 10, 2025 at 6:34 AM I’ve only listened to half the album but so far it’s good. Look At Me, Down For You, and Taj Mahal are definite standouts
Oct 10, 2025 at 6:49 AM haven’t listened to a MD record since Murda Musik but I’m pretty interested in this. Gonna try to check it out soon
Oct 10, 2025 at 7:02 AM The only weak track to me so far is Gunfire and even that is still a decent song. The run Mass Appeal has been on this year is crazy. A bunch of older hip hop acts making good albums and challenging the old narrative that hip hop is only a young man’s game. Hip hop is shedding those limiting beliefs we got people of all ages dropping heat.
Oct 10, 2025 at 7:10 AM Nas been having so many dope features on these albums. Can’t wait to see what he drops. He’s really setting an example for other rappers that look up to him
Oct 10, 2025 at 12:59 PM Really good album. They've done Prodigy proud with this one. My favourite of the Legend Has It run so far.
Oct 10, 2025 at 1:35 PM Idk man this album doesn't feel grimey enough for a MD release. The beats aren't great neither maybe it'll grow on me but where's the super hardcore s---?
Oct 10, 2025 at 3:17 PM i wouldnt say hip hop is necessarily a yms game, it's anybodys pretty much because i believe in skill over all for my personal preference, however I do get where youre coming from because you wont see some 48 year old in the XXL freshmen class anyways this year has been incredible for the genre as all the projects have been really well done, I personally think this the best Mass Appeal release so far this year, this is close to the clipse for me... the last song is dope as f---... let's see what they do with Big L on Halloween. glad to have somethin good to listen to while everyone else tucks it back and hears what Drake has to say
Oct 10, 2025 at 3:49 PM I appreciate the different perspective. I’ve obviously heard Mobb Deep songs before but this is my first full album from them. I wanna go back and listen to the classics Yeah it’s not really something I believe, it’s just something I used to hear people say all the time. Maybe it used to be a young man’s game at one point, but times are changing. We’ve never had rappers show longevity like they do now. Plus, a lot of the most popular rappers right now (Kendrick Lamar, Drake, J. Cole, Travis Scott, Young Thug, etc.) are in their 30s or 40s. Meanwhile not as many rappers in their 20s or younger are blowing up. A lot of the best rappers in that age group are barely mainstream or underground even. Obviously we still have some rappers blowing up in their 20s but not as many as before. I think people thought that once you get to a certain age you lose your passion for rap. Clearly that’s not true for everybody. There is no limit to creativity, people just place those limits on themselves really. Somebody like Nas or Black Thought could rap until they’re 100. h--- yeah. The worst one for me was Slick Rick’s new album even though that was still good to me. It’s hard to pick between Raekwon’s, Ghostface Killah’s, and Mobb Deep’s new albums right now. I’ll have to listen to all of them a bunch back to back because they’re all so dope I can’t wait either. I’ve never really dove deep into Big L’s discography but I always watched compilations of his craziest punchlines and they were awesome. I can’t wait to see what they do. Drake might not even drop this year after Taylor Swift dropped and after he lost the lawsuit he had against UMG/Kendrick Lamar for Not Like Us. Drake isn’t real hip hop anyway Sidenote shout out Mr. Magik that’s another song that stood out. I think @CAGE and @Made in abyss would be interested in this album too
Oct 10, 2025 at 4:25 PM This is one of my favourite projects from them https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxNSUfx3is_AzWq6S5zb_8xayuAHGg3BA&si=u0ziyIa8SAEvlFp7
Oct 12, 2025 at 9:26 AM Top notch sample, I really liked the William Orbit version back in the day, best song on the album for me as well. The whole album is good though!
Oct 12, 2025 at 3:00 PM I’m surprised but glad to see this thread got some replies. I definitely gotta spin this album back. I also just saw Big L’s album is coming October 31
Oct 13, 2025 at 6:11 PM Very solid album, sounds more complete than projects like this usually do. Probably my favourite of the Mass Appeal projects so far
Oct 13, 2025 at 6:51 PM For some reason I wanna say I like Raekwon’s album best, but I gotta go back and listen to all the Mass Appeal drops from this year again. Maybe have a little Mass Appeal marathon after Nas drops in December. A thread ranking all the albums wouldn’t be a bad idea
