It was pretty good! Not my favorite from them but it's not from and the album and was for an AEW wrestler and with that context it works pretty well. Vocals were mixed a little different and I like the way they usually do it more

I’ll probably give the Clipse album one or two more listens before I drop my review. I mean, it’s only Monday. But d--- I just wanna say it’s amazing that these guys are still rapping at such a high level.

Clipse - Let God Sort 'Em Out
This was a long time coming, huh?

I remember when It's Almost Dry came out, and I thought "new Clipse coming soon right?". Then I saw that "Chains and Whips" was previewed at a 2023 LV show, and I thought "new Clipse coming soon right? But eventually, after 16 years, coke rap's best duo (Sorry Rae and Ghost :emoji_slight_frown:) is BACK.

Aside from the leaked version of "Chains and Whips", I decided to avoid most of the singles/snippets for this record so that I could go in blind. Lyrics wise, Push is great as expected. But Malice...dear God. I might have to check out his Christian rap records at this point because d--- is he still amazing.

"The Birds Don't Sing" is a great way to start off the album. I definitely didn't expect the record to start with a song dedicated to the duo's deceased parents, but d--- does it leave an impression. "Chains and Whips" is still as great as it was back in 23, and Kendrick kills his feature as expected. The duo kills it on "P.O.V." but Tyler really surprised me. I've been very open about not really enjoying CHROMAKOPIA too much, but he absolutely killed his verse on here. "So Be It" is an all time classic. That beat is f---ing incredible, and the brothers sound absolutely venomous on this song, especially that Travis diss at the end by Push.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but "Ace Trumpets" is my least favorite song on the record. Push & Malice k--- it, but the beat is very mixed for me. "All Things Considered" has some great verses, but what the h--- was Pharell thinking with the hook. It would be fine, but that autotune sounds awful in my opinion. It doesn't ruin the song or anything, but it's a very strange choice.

    "M.T.B.T.T.F."...

    Need I say more?

"F.I.C.O." is dope, and it's always great seeing Ab-Liva on a Clipse album (I just wish Sandman and Rosco P. Goldchain were here too). The last 3 tracks do well at wrapping the project up. I guess I might as well discuss "So Be It, Pt. II", which has the same killer verses with some decent [albeit inferior] production.

As a reunion record, I'd say that this is a great showing from the duo. I wouldn't say that its We Got It From Here..Thank You 4 Your Service level, but it's definitely a great showing, and an incredible return for Malice. I don't really have too many critiques honestly. I do think that I do prefer the first half more, at least as of now, but I can't wait to keep revisiting this in the future.
FAVORITE TRACKS: Chains & Whips, So Be It, M.T.B.T.T.F., F.I.C.O
    Rating: 8/10

Clipse - Let God Sort Em Out

    Favorites:
The Birds Don’t Sing, Chains & Whips, P.O.V., So Be It, M.T.B.T.T.F., F.I.C.O.

    RIPPER ROO’S RATING: 9/10

The rapping and production on this album is top notch. Clipse got the secret formula. Pharrell is dope on production. Pusha and Malice are so good at finding the right pocket for each beat and their deliveries are iconic. I love Pusha but honestly a lot of times it felt like Malice had the best verse and that’s crazy considering he took such a long break. It’s just proof you don’t have to be young to be an amazing rapper. The stigma against older rappers is dying everyday.

Starting the album with “The Birds Don’t Sing” is a powerful statement. One might often expect an album to start with a hype song, but I always appreciate it when albums subvert that expectation and start with an emotional song. What a vulnerable song talking about the passing of their parents, this might be the most vulnerable Clipse song I’ve ever heard. “"I love my two sons" was the code to your phone, now you're gone” what a line from Malice.

Kendrick, Tyler, and Nas all killed their features and really fit on the album. Stove God Cooks absolutely cooked on F.I.C.O.. There’s also just so many one liners on this album I could talk about them all day. Malice was especially going hard.

I know some people might find it crazy that I rated this a 9/10 and h--- Hath No Fury an 8/10. A lot of people look at that album as a classic and I get it. It’s a great album but the biggest issues for me on that album was the repetitive hooks and Pharrell’s awkward singing. Thankfully those issues are mostly fixed on Let God Sort Em Out. I liked a lot of the hooks and didn’t find them repetitive. I didn’t mind most of Pharrell’s parts (except for on All Things Considered, that’s the worst song).

I’m trying to keep these reviews shorter so I’ll end it here (I say that as I have 5 paragraphs). If anyone wants to discuss more I’m down. Also I reacted to the album in the Clipse thread so you can see more of my thoughts and first reactions there as well. Overall this is an amazing album with very little issues. @AOTWClub

Clipse - let God sort em out.

Phenomenal album. Hands down AOTY so far. These 50 year olds made a better album than any of these new rappers made in fukn years!

Features killed it. Even the Pharrell verses and hooks are growing on me after a few listens.

Hardly any complaints. I think it was @Yeez who said the first single was the weakest track and I agree.

Other than that I can't get enough of this.

    Perfect production

    No skips

    Edit: 9.5/10

I was scrolling through around 600 albums and decided to put together a list of my personal 9+ rated ones. Some are much closer to a 10. I’ll admit, most of these are pretty standard, vanilla picks. But hey, they must be popular for a reason.

    Judas Priest - Painkiller (1990)
Megadeth - Rust in Peace (1990)
Metallica - Ride The Lightning (1984)

Do y’all think Kendrick saying “They genetics been synthetic, screamin’ they genius” on Chains & Whips and pronouncing “genius” as “Jeen-yuhs” was a shot at Ye? Or simply just a reference?

It definitely sounded like a jab at Ye to me as well.

Right? Ye goes around screaming he’s genius and had that jeen-yuhs s---. Plus, Kendrick is on a track with Pusha who also now has problems with Ye. Also, Ye has been dissing Kendrick on Twitter for a while now. The only problem is this song might’ve been made before Ye dissed Kendrick. I feel like I heard something like this song already having been made for like a year but the Kendrick verse caused problems with the label. Then again Kendrick could’ve updated his verse recently.

He mentions therapy like on Mr. Morale but the verse very much has that gnx energy to me. I guess the biggest mystery is whether or not it’s a diss because at the very least I definitely think it’s a reference to Ye. I guess we will see if Kendrick makes more references/disses to Ye in the future. Personally I hope he does diss Ye.
