Jul 1, 2025 at 12:50 PM i wish i knew. i didn’t even realize there was an alternate version until i saw it on one of the tracklists in coby’s video. but rhyme or reason is one of my fav songs on lp2, rod argent from the zombies who sang time of the season even tweeted about how much he loved em’s version. he called it “a magnificent waterfall of words.” imagine this song but with more enigmatic ritz style verses. f--- paul. and f--- dre. i really hope to god we hear every one of these songs one day
Jul 1, 2025 at 1:14 PM I think the demo much like the Side B demos are just lyric changes. Eminem says Pantawan but rerecorded it to Padawan for the album version. Also the beat may have many mixing differences.

Jul 1, 2025 at 1:50 PM it was 1000 times better than Revival and honestly one of my favorite Em albums. He was finally back to spitting with some anger and confidence. Actually going at people and not playing it safe. That started to dissipate after Kamikaze.
Jul 1, 2025 at 2:01 PM i see people arguing with you constantly and i’ve avoided the fray for the most part but i’m not sure i feel you on this. rhyme or reason is great as it is yes but so were the other songs we heard demos of. i still want to hear them all. and frankly i like the lyrical style of ritz better. it doesn’t sound like randomness to me because i hear it as a constant stream of thought weaving one metaphor into another seamlessly in ways that nobody else can even come close to. cringe all you want. some people like that

Jul 1, 2025 at 2:18 PM I don’t feel this way about MMLP2 or even Rhyme or Reason in particular. I do feel this way about Shady XV era tracks. On Ritz Eminem is trying to hit too high of a note when singing. On Rhyme or Reason the singing is much easier to listen to as he’s not singing as high. In fact, I like MMLP2 in general. I hate most of Shady XV, and it showed us what was to come on Revival. It’s as if he took the style from MMLP2 and just kept making it worse with Shady XV and Revival.

I want to like em's version more b/c i love the original song so much. i can't tell if it's the flow or not, but if i don't hear the song for awhile i really like it, but i know when i was playing MMLP2 on repeat on got tired of that song quicker than i anticipated.
