100%. Or they are just crybabies that can't accept he is gone and they moved on. She did fantastic. I have to say I like her even more when she does her 'own' songs. With much more confidence!

I agree. It's interesting how CDs have gone from outdated junk around 2010 to now becoming a niche hobby for younger people. I'm glad they're still around. Maybe they will gain the same kind of appeal vinyl records have someday.

Most of my music is digital too, mainly for convenience, cost and space. But I still keep a fairly small CD collection of my favorite albums. Like you said, there’s something nice about having a physical copy.

Have any of the Quadeca/Peggy fans in this thread checked out the new Kevin Abstract album? It has features from both (i think Quadeca has like 2-3). I used to be big into BH back in the day, but I haven’t listened to any of the post-breakup stuff.

I listen to couple tracks but need to give it a full run through, I never really listened to BH but Kevin still propping up Ameer is a little weird to me.

Nice to see Quad branch out more, he's definitely gonna have an AOTY contender so I hope this brings some more recognition from different fan bases to his stuff

    RIPPER ROO’S RATING: 10/10!!!!!!!!

X was one of the rare artists I actually felt a connection to. He was really good at building a cult following. To see the other artists I felt a connection to (The Weeknd and Kendrick Lamar) supporting him was a crazy thing to see. His music really resonated with me at one of my most depressing times in life. He was just saying everything that I felt and putting it into songs. He inspired me to be more open about my emotions and say how I really feel rather than hiding it. When I wanted to end it all I would just throw on his songs instead.

This was a crazy time too. Around this time period I had to go to a mental hospital after telling my friend I wanted to k--- myself. I ended up not having to stay but I had to go to therapy. I likely never would’ve ended up in therapy without artists like X and Kendrick Lamar telling me it’s okay to express my emotions. So when it comes to this music s--- and the artists I love it’s deeper than just music.

He’s pretty much the only artist where I felt sad when he died. I still remember that day. I woke up from a nap on my couch and saw the news on my phone. People don’t believe me when I say this but it was either when I was taking that nap or the night before where I had a weirdly specific dream about him dying in the streets. I would look at that as a coincidence but it’s happened to me more than once. Like a year ago I had this strong feeling that my aunt was gonna die. I always pushed down that feeling and thought it was crazy. I had no reason to believe that she would die. But then a few months later she actually did pass away. And that’s happened to me a bunch of other times, it’s freaky. It all started with the X death from what I can remember. On rare occasions I will get scared to go to sleep because of the dreams I might have.

But anyway, onto the album. X was an innovator of short songs and really just showing that artists don’t have to be shoved into one box. He did all these different types of sounds and for the most part they worked well. Yeah, he’s best at the sad melodic s--- usually but I like the other s--- too. There’s nothing like an X album bro, he was so unique it’s insane. It’s a shame he passed because he would’ve been one of the absolute biggest stars today and really evolved, he was on his way to surpassing Drake. And with all the beef X had with Drake, he would’ve loved to see the Kendrick vs. Drake beef. Peekaboo, Helping Hand, etc.

Yes, the intro to this album is cringe. X had a lot of cringe moments, I know he was roasted on Twitter recently for that. But when you are young and depressed it is very easy to have cringe moments, I still have mine sometimes. Unfortunately he passed so we never got to see him evolve past this.

ALONE, PART 3 is great and dramatic, was perfect for my breakup around this time and feeling alone. Then we have Moonlight and SAD! back to back, some of the all time classic modern day pop/rap songs. Like seriously, who else making songs like Moonlight and Sad? They just have that aura to them bro. Moonlight has such a cool beat, SAD! is a f---ing anthem bruh.

The remedy for a broken heart feels like a leftover from his last album 17 but it’s still nice. Floor 555 is hard as f--- and a great workout song, X did this screamo rap metal s--- so nicely, makes me wanna fight. NUMB is one of my anthems man “every single year I’m drowning in my tears again” I really feel that s--- to the core. Infinity shows that X can do the more old school rap too and Joey did nice as well (check out their King’s Dead remix if you like this, that was also fire) X and Joey were a good rap duo and I wonder what X would think about Joey’s recent beefs.

Going down catchy af, Pain = BESTFRIEND another anthem for me and wild workout song. $$$ is f---ing incredible this song randomly plays in my head all the time, perfect combo of catchiness with silly lines and unique beat. Love yourself is a cute lil interlude, SMASH! is a dope collab with PnB Rock (rip). I don’t even speak Spanish lol omg this gotta be one of the most entertaining songs of all time bruh. changes is highly impactful emotions wise and I remember when it came out the same time as SAD! man that was a dope combo.

Hope is another one of those songs that is always in my head, such a unique feeling of having sadness and hope at the same time for those who lost their lives in the shooting, this hits harder when I was almost in a shooting too. Schizophrenia another awesome rock track, I love how he plays into the schizophrenia with whispering “voices”. before I close my eyes is such a hopeful ending showing that he wanted to change but after his death it is also very eerie that this is the last song he put out.

X’s influence is still felt today. No one is quite like him but I see a bit of him in other artists. glaive is someone who reminds me of X especially when he works with John Cunningham (X’s producer on a lot of his songs)so check out glaive if you like this (I had glaive on my first mixtape in this group). Is this album free of flaws? No, but at this point it’s a certified classic to me. This would be a classic to me whether X died or not, this album had a profound effect on me as a person. I understand people giving this lower scores because they don’t have the same perspective I do and that’s okay. There’s always going to be some sort of bias in these reviews we do.

There’s probably a lot more I wanted to say but honestly I forgot and this is already way long enough so I’ll just end it here for now. I don’t wanna beat the world record for Section Eighty’s longest post today. Just kinda freely wrote this one from the heart. Long Live Jahseh. @AOTWClub

Anyone listen to Lael? She was a huge X fan and made some decent songs imo. Unfortunately self sabotaged by not shutting up and doing a whole fake depression rollout on tiktok lol

Great review, not to the same extent as you but I've had wildly specific dreams happen to me as well. Interesting to see even through a negative connection to the music like myself or a positive connection like yours we both have a somewhat similar opinion

Yeah bro it’s weird, I feel like sometimes we just know when something is gonna happen. It’s not like the psychic type s--- we see in movies but I definitely think humans have some sort of psychic ability. You got the negative connection, I got the positive connection, it’s like we’re two sides of the same coin. Sometimes I feel like you’re my brother from another mother:jaydaps:

Yeah it sucks cause that song and this one are actually solid

I think some people's commitment to depression as an aesthetic is pretty gross, I'm sure to an extent some of it is real but making light of it in the rollout to what's some pretty overall sad music is very icky lol

True. If I’m being honest X kinda fell into the category of using depression as an aesthetic too sometimes. But capitalizing on it as a marketing tool is definitely lame. Thankfully I don’t really see any artists doing that these days, mostly because emo rap died with X, Juice WRLD, and Lil Peep. I would like to see it make a comeback, but it would have to be organic and not some fake s---

Thanks man. Thankfully it hasn’t gotten to that point for me where I need to see a doctor for my sleep. But I’m sorry that you had to go to a sleep doctor due to nightmares. At least we can kinda relate there. I feel like when I tell some people that they think it’s weird, but it’s a real thing. Nightmares can be f---ing terrifying sometimes

Guess I've really no right to complain much,
hip-hop has been good to me huh?
But when they say that I'm only top five 'cause I'm white why would I be stunned
My skin color's still working against me (what?) 'cause second I should be to none
Being white ain't why they put me at five (nope) it's why they can't put me at one (woo)
