Mar 28, 2025 He's miles ahead of Carti etc. though. His song on the I Am Music album is better than 90% of the rest lmao. Yeah he makes some garbage like that harambe song every once in a while but also a lot of great s---. Imo at least. Stupid name for an album btw lol but hey its the music that matters.
Mar 28, 2025 Absolutely hated his era of rap but Slime Season Is an album I can tolerate and actually enjoyed. The sequel had a few good songs too.

Mar 28, 2025 What I mean is like — he used to be so hated on all over Twitter and this forum but I almost never ever see people hate on him anymore cuz it's pretty much universally accepted he's one of modern rap's GOATs. Doesn't mean you have to like his music, but he's more-than earned respect for what he's accomplished imo. I think you and @Wreckless have pretty similar tastes in music and if he found some stuff he liked in there I bet you could too. His discography is super expansive and covers everything from trap to traditional rapping to more pop-oriented stuff to country to reggae to acoustic to the experimental weirdo ATLien s---. There's a lot, and I don't expect the average person to like it all but I personally love p much all his styles lol. For example I think the Thug song from the Carti record is boring but @Michael Myers finds it smooth, while MM finds "Harambe" grating and I think it's fire/a b-----r. @Ripper Roo and @DiggleDogg69 love So Much Fun while me and @albumdrill aren't that into it. tldr; Carti is an artist I'd only recommend to specific people, but Thug I would recommend to almost everyone because there's likely at least a handful of songs they'll f--- with. I'm curious tho, I know you like more "traditional" rappers (for lack of a better term), but are there any rappers/songs outside that sphere (or toe the line) you're into? Might be able to recommend some Thug songs you might like based on that.

Mar 28, 2025 Whenever I think of music in 2019, I immediately think of So Much Fun. That summer was generational. For me, 2019 was Thug’s year
Mar 28, 2025 even s--- like Slime & B — I'm not a big fan of Chris Brown — has a couple classics like Biiiiiiig Sliiiiiiiiiimes and She Bumped Her Head
Mar 28, 2025 You often emphasize open mindedness toward mumble rap and encourage others to appreciate it as a deep, complex artform. I’d love to see you engage in discussions about other genres as well, since I rarely see that. In the grand scheme of things, mumble rap is just a small, specific genre and many of us already listen to a wide range of music. So, we’re not really missing much by choosing not to deep dive into certain artists discographies. Young Thug played an important role in this movement, though he also borrowed heavily from Lil Wayne in many ways. A lot of those guys have. I’d say Slime Season is definitely worth listening to but I wouldn’t consider this genre essential to the point where skipping it means missing out on something major. But that also comes down to personl taste.
