I think we need to reevaluate how different circumstances today are vs 2020 or even 2021. A lot more people have some amount of immunity (either through vaccination or infection) & there are several pharmaceuticals available for those that get extreme symptoms which significantly improve their chances of survival. Not to mention, the Omicron variant really changed a lot. In particular, it being so infectious that most masks (except for N95/KN95s) are essentially useless in terms of reducing transmission. Fortunately, it is also one of the more milder variants in terms of fatality rate & it seems to be sticking around as the dominant variant for the time being.

COVID-19 isn’t going anywhere. Eradicating COVID is no longer a feasible option in the short term & probably hasn’t been one for a while. We have to figure out how to return to some level of normalcy while also grappling with the fact that COVID-19 is here to stay for likely the rest of our lives. The best protection against COVID remains to be getting vaccinated & boosted. Everything else doesn’t really move the needle much anymore.

I got omicron two weeks ago and everyone around me seems to get it too, despite being vaxxed 3 times. Symptoms are really, really mild tho and go away pretty fast when you are vaccinated. It still sucks that you have to stay in quarantine, it really limits you especially when you're an university student and there are no online lectures anymore. I feel like people are not afraid of the virus but afraid of having to stay home when they get tested positive lmao.

Mask mandates are ending here in Eastern Canada next week, as are most restrictions (gathering limits, vax passports, social distancing, etc etc) but I’m still not comfortable with returning to “normal life” just yet.

My toddler son is ineligible for a vaccine. Not worth the risk yet. COVID isn’t gone.

COVID finally caught up to me. Tested positive today. My 2y/o son is still testing negative but it’s only a matter of time.

This is good. Ventilation is key to reducing transmission of COVID.

this is a huge mistake. Increasing the vaccination rates of developing countries should be a COVID-19 priority for every developed nation. Research for better vaccines is key as well.
