"old hip-hop" is like a high school sweet heart.. even though you prefer her, and still love her. You have to move on to something new.

I quite like this analogy. With a few exceptions, I rarely revisit some of my favourite albums from much earlier than 2005 - they are still my favourites I just need to be in the mood to listen to them now.

It's like I feel bad for people that truly think nothing good comes out of modern era say 2005-onwards like the same peeps post those memes talking about rap then rap now and give the genre a bad name to people that don't know better. Hurts everyone overall tbh sets a bad example to people who didn't like it to begin with or were waiting to get interested but thought ahh it's just guys talking about drugs and hoes 'now'. Smh. Wouldn't believe how many impressionable folk see some of this nonsense of Facebook like people truly think Mackelmore represent the genre see him in all these FB videos and on The Grammys, these the same people that'll never hear an album like Summertime 06. How backwards is that. And rap isn't respectable anymore. Pfft quality is still there you gotta look.

At the same time most all my friends just bump what's hot and new when they haven't dived enough into the history at all and that bugs me too like yeah dog that was cool but it ain't up there with Dead Presidents II...and the room goes silent. That's wack af and just make me feel for them like wow they have no clue what you're missing.

Off topic but that's the kinda ish that gets my homies to say Pac is better than Big like it isn't even a contest to them I'm the odd one out, when I know that's cause history looks back fonder on Pac than Biggie. Like cmon guys open up a book you ever even heard Life After Death? Educate yourselves, broaden your catalogue ya know

I appreciate both a lot but there's a lot more dud artists these days, you can still tell some of these new artists were heavily inspired by the 90s and they are the ones I f--- with. I.E Game , Freddie Gibbs, Meek, Vince Staples, Pro Era etc.
