Dude, if youre gonna play with the PC, build your own especially with that budget. Youtube is full of guides fe. Carey Holzman and google is full of builds.
One thing tho, i'm not too sure about streaming with that budget. Sure its fine if its just for the s80 boys

Exactly, it depends what he wants to stream.

Take my list as an example and try to cut the price on: case (something as big with less features), cpu fan (something louder), power supply (550-600W should be enough), hdd, motherboard (less features, but still good for overclocking), ssd (something slower or/and with less capacity, but still fast), memory (less memory), GPU (something like MSI GTX 970, but I wouldn't do it), CPU (6600K is the best choice, so you can buy 6600 which isn't overclockable if you want to save money). Just do it in that order.@Final

Hes not going to get one with that budget anyway, but if he were to build one, which is a lot cheaper means that he gets better components so the pc wont get outdated too quickly, and then theres the possibility to upgrade your components if needed. And when you get experience on building a pc, you might also be able to navigate the problem if something breaks. Not only that, but having a cool looking desktop and building it is rly fun. And cleaning it from dust is way easier as well

I'd just like something that I can play whatever game I might buy and that won't f---ing crash when I have multiple windows open... my Mac is getting rusty. I'm not getting too crazy with it I just want a nice $1000 or so computer... I can spend more but I don't need to be able to split atoms with the thing I just want an uninterrupted experience without lagging etc. I know I can spend $600 and get the same thing for what I want but I'd like to spend extra since computers end up outdated so fast. Yea my Macbook works fine for what I do but I'd like something more powerful that runs Windows and might as well upgrade.

Honestly I could probably just upgrade my Mac and be happy but I miss having Windows cause half the s--- in the world runs on it and would like to be able to use said s--- when the time comes. @Slyk I have hooked my Macbook up to my TV and used wireless mouse/keyboard in the past but my Mac is so old that it's gotten pretty slow when I do stuff other than browse the net. I think all I really need is more RAM and some extra GB but yea.

reading @Final s recent post, if it were me, i would do this:
-wait for the new mbps to get announced next week
-wait for price drops to happen on the old mbps
    -buy the old version, new
    -transfer your data
-sell your old mbp, get a few hundred
    -buy external peripherals
    -dual boot in windows

...but that's just me, and i know these other guys are still gonna recommend you get a desktop and build your own. i just don't see the purpose in splitting devices, since you said you were still going to try and use your old laptop, plus the fact that it doesn't sound like you're gonna be doing hardcore stuff

Slyk thinking outside the box... Sounds wise if I transfer my data and sell and run bootcamp :thinkinghmmm:
I think the cheapest Mac can do whatever I want it for idk:

It's definitely an update (smaller screen)... but is it enough?

    • Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz
    • 8GB 1866MHz LPDDR3 memory
    • 128GB PCIe-based flash storage1
    • Intel Iris Graphics 6100

    My Mac:

    • Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB

I'm not ruling out building a PC.. I still like the sound of having a desktop for some reason I miss it but i wouldn't mind a faster Mac since I'm already there. There's no way my current Mac can dual-boot.

i have the literal top of the line imac you can buy and i dualbooted it, and for some reason i really hate it. everything on the windows partition is super slow and wonky. if you want to play games with the desktop, dualbooting a mac is the worst way to go about it.
bootcamp also f----- up my 3TB hard drive and locked it up when i tried to erase the partition, and now i have 1TB of disk space that's just unusable unless i do a factory reset and run a time machine backup to restore everything. i'd imagine that's a rare thing to happen, but it's still worth being aware of.

Just buy a bigger ram chip for like $50, that's what I did. Change it out with a quick online tutorial. I felt like it gave my MacBook Pro a new life jumping from 4 to 8gb

Yeah, it's a nice idea, but he will not be able to "play whatever game he might buy" on Mac.
