Mar 11, 2015Guys I can't get over meeting Cole man... s--- was most amazing thing ever. One thing I'll never forget is when I handed him FHD to sign and after he signed it and gave it back, I tried to give him daps but someone else handed him an album so he took it and signed it.. I was bummed cuz I couldn't even get to shake Cole's hand... lol, but right when he finished signing it I guessed he noticed he left me hanging and he stuck his hand out to me to for a handshake. I swear most down to Earth celeb ever

"picked a kid to be an admin" - what does that mean?
You realize this site is nothing without JCN right? Who do you think held that site down for the back half and got it to where it is today?
How is he going to destroy this site? Because he doesn't like you? This isn't SL anymore fam, people aren't going to treat you like a net-god for leaking Eminem tracks, especially since we're trying to grow this site with members who follow relevant artist, not washed up 40 year olds. You gotta get used to people not liking you on this site, I got ethered by @ODB on JCN before but it's all love. who cares.
If you got a problem with the personnel I picked to build this site with me then hit me in private and we can discuss it. You don't need to put me on blast in a public thread smh.
But as far as it's looking right now, everyone I've picked has been pretty good so far. We just wrapped up our first interview with a major label artist (again, you can thank Akaash and JCN for getting that interview) and we're working on securing our second one.
akaash might be more important to the future of this site than you are b, I don't see how he's going to "destroy the site". I'm building a mini complex, not a mini KTT. this blog is everything to the site, and Akaash is the most qualified person to help me and @ODB run it.

7. Mobb Deep - The Infamous (1995)
If I recall correctly, I don’t think anyone has guessed this so far. I had a feeling this might be one of the more surprising ones, as I feel like it usually gets passed over in favor of other phenomenal NY classics like Illmatic, Enter the Wu-Tang, and Ready to Die. Speaking of the latter, what I’ve always appreciated about The Infamous is that it feels timeless to me in the same way that Ready to Die does. While an album like Illmatic is an absolute classic, its sound feels a little “dustier” than Infamous or Ready to Die. I know the term “dusty” has a negative connotation these days, but I don’t think it’s always a bad thing. Madlib’s beats feel “dusty” in a lot of cases, but that’s part of the charm. Illmatic transports you back to 1994 and makes you feel like you’re right there shooting dice and drinking E&J with Nas in Queensbridge, and while The Infamous is certainly a product of the 90s, it’s not as explicit as Illmatic to me. Though it still boasts those sparse drums that characterized NY at the time, everything feels a little bit crisper, and songs like “Temperature’s Rising” and “Drink Away the Pain” help curb the sparseness. For that reason, I feel like it’s one of the more accessible 90s NY albums after Ready to Die and Reasonable Doubt.
Anyway, Mobb Deep makes pretty bad music now and have for quite some time (remember when they were in G-Unit? lol), but this and h--- on Earth are both classics in my eyes. The only song harder than “Shook Ones Pt. II” I can think of off the top of my head is “Ante Up,” and even so, I feel like “Rock you in your face, stab your brain with your nose bone” has a special place in every rap fan’s heart. “Drink Away the Pain” is probably in my top 25 favorite rap songs of all time as well. Also, Prodigy’s reaction to getting a 4.9 on Pitchfork is a 10.0:

The Clipse & The Re-Up g---, We Got It 4 Cheap, Vol. 2 (2005)
the clipse were responsible for a sea change in critical and popular attitudes toward rap in the mid-2000s. there were residual, crudely-drawn party lines from the so-called "mainstream-underground" wars, but def jux was no longer a key player, nor was rawkus the same. (predominately white) rap fans who had listened exclusively to aesop rock claimed they now listened exclusively to coke rap. what's impressive is that the clipse were able to be this sort of touchstone while in the midst of one of the worst label purgatories of the decade. the jive debacle left them on the shelf for four years between their two masterpieces, Lord Willin (2002) and h--- Hath No Fury (2006). the second of the We Got It 4 Cheap tapes, which features ab-liva and sandman (credited as the re-up g---), is the best, and one of the key pieces of the form's minor renaissance. listen: http://www.datpiff.com/The-Clipse-We-got-it-4-cheap-Vol-2-mixtape.819.html
