I think a lot of it is pure status. He put out a classic album 20 years ago, has continued to put out music that has been commercially successful and (on the main) critically acclaimed.
He hasn't had a great deal of drama for a very long time, he's put out a lot of music and most of it has been good to great, he hasn't stumbled too badly in terms of acts he has endorsed or signed, he's been successful from a business perspective, seems to have a pretty solid personal life (despite all the divorce rumors that were swirling last summer) and is generally seen as a mature, adult presence in hip hop.
He isn't super adventurous musically, sticks to what works and does it well. He hasn't gone out on too many limbs that he could have broken and fallen.
He's a steady, sturdy presence in hip hop for about two decades now, he doesn't need or want controversy.

This has me a little paranoid because my Lean x Xanax addiction has only been growing since Lil Peep passed away. I went to the hospital around Christmas time due to some complications with my liver and he said it was probably because of my substance abuse. Really sucks that we're losing so many people, way too early. Fredo was just about to have his son, and even hinted numerous times at a potential rebirth to his rap career after a pretty lengthy break now.

Hope his son realizes the impact that Fredo had on the music scene in Chicago when he's old enough to understand all this s---.

My parents moved me to the most wealthy subdivision in my area. There i had trouble finding friends and all the girls called me a loser. I spent my days inside being a fa----, but my dad made me go outside one day where the mailman lured me to his van with some skullcandy headphones and r---d me there.
