First time I heard “Get At Me Dog”, I thought it was the dumbest s--- ever with the dog barking. But as the song kept getting airplay and people were gravitating to it, I too began appreciating it to the point that I bought his debut on cassette. He jump started the Survival of the Illest Def Jam campaign. ‘98 was a great summer and a great overall year for NY Hip Hop outside of the Golden Era. X was pivotal in that movement. Hope he pulls through.

Hook is usual Asap excellence, syrupy deep a--- voice with a catchy hook. Idk how to describe the beat, but it matches the tone of the lyrics, it's like combative in a way. Like it sounds like s--- you might hear in the background of a fighting game. Meero said it's dark in a way, and I agree. Lyrics are
Typical witty Rocky, nothing deep and introspective but still good lyrics nonetheless.

I feel like my previous comparison to a fighting game song is pretty apt. The beat sounds like if DJ Screw himself had risen from the dead to chop up a Mortal Kombat track, with Rocky's voice booming over it on the hook like the announcer screaming FATALITY! This is trunk rattling whip music right here for sure, a nice little expansion on the mixtape Rocky sound.

Now this first cut may not be what it seems. However, ya boi Bussa found a loophole like Johnny Cochran in the OJ case.

We first saw this track on J. Cole's Truly Yours 2 EP. It ALSO appears on Bassy Bad a---'s Quarter Water Raised Me Vol. II mixtape. This s--- is a gem. Bas x Cole make some dope a--- collabs.

Track number two for this week's CFF is very soulful and is produced by Canei Finch. Canei is also on the hook. This features a heartfelt Cole verse and he also provides an outstanding outro. Cole should definitely work more with Canei. They have great chemistry together.
