Dec 30, 2015There's a reason why Eminem won tho...
In the beginning of the Rap Awards, there was some kinda unknowingness whether we should promote this on FB or nah (for those who don't know: SXN80 has one big Kendrick page with around 30,000 likes and access to a big Eminem page with around 1,000,000 likes). Since Koolo is an admin of the Eminem page and wanted to promote the Rap Awards (good intention), he shared 'Most Anticipated Album of 2016' thread there. As a result that thread instantly had hundreds of guests and a few of them voted for Eminem.
A few minutes later I got a message from Koolo:
'this wasn't a good idea, right?'
After that, no more awards threads were posted on FB (one exception tho) so that the results wouldn't be more rigged.
That was the story of Eminem and the SXN80 Rap Awards.
The end.

new drop, moving into top 5....this is probably where the list takes the biggest jump. I LOVE all of the remaining albums and have listened to them the most heavy of everything

Makaveli - The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory
I don't know if this will be a popular pick...but Killuminati is my favorite Tupac album for lots of reasons. I like how Pac dumped the worn out 90s west-coast sound for a lot of the album in favor of the dark gloomy instrumentals...I don't know if it's just my own projection because of the hysteria surrounding the album but it sounds so eerie to me and I love the subject matter. There's just something about the album that makes you feel like it's multi-layers thick. I feel like a lot of the best tracks on this album are underappreciated in Tupac's discography. I wrote a speech last semester about Tupac and this album is were I drew the most inspiration.
Essential tracks; Bomb First, Hail Mary, To Live and Die in LA, Blasphemy, Life of an Outlaw, Me and My Girlfriend, Against All Odds
Essential tracks are basically irrelevant at this point because I love these entire albums

J-Dilla - Donuts
This is Dilla's most complex, immaculate magnum opus. The emotion he's able to evoke in me as a listener with this combination of chops and samples is awesome. The majority of these instrumentals are embedded in my mind. This is the ultimate album to listen to while you study or when you just wanna relax and feel some type of way. I don't know what else to say, it's just an album that draws you in.
Essential tracks; my favorites are Waves, Time The Donut of the Heart, Two Can Win, Gobstopper, U-Love, Last Donut of the Night....really though this s--- is so fantastic

Snoop Dogg - "Drop It Like It's Hot" feat. Pharrell
From R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece • Released 9/12/2004
Listen • Sources: 1 2
- As of 2016, it is Snoop's only #1 single as a lead artist. Since then he has hit #1 as a featured artist twice: Akon's "I Wanna Love You" and Katy Perry's "California Gurls"
- Lil Wayne released a remix of the song, titled "Nah This Ain't the Remix", on his mixtape The Dedication. He takes shots at Snoop Dogg for using the line "drop it like it's hot" which he used on Juvenile's 1999 hit single "Back That Azz Up", and in his own song called "Drop It Like It's Hot" from his first album, Tha Block is Hot.
- However, he claimed that he wasn't mad, saying in the song, "When I first heard this I got a little upset but then I thought to myself, what haven't I done yet?" and later, "Nah, I ain't hatin', don't get me wrong, I made it a hot line, you made it a hot song. Peace."
- In 2012, Snoop Dogg adapted the song to "Pocket like it's Hot" in an advertising campaign for Hot Pockets.
