May 14, 2021 the subtext for the whole movie is the lead character jesse or whatever grappling with the fact hes gay. interview with Attitude magazine, Robert Englund said "... the second Nightmare on Elm Street is obviously intended as a bisexual themed film. It was early '80s, pre-AIDS paranoia. Jesse's wrestling with whether to come out or not and his own sexual desires was manifested by Freddy. His friend is the object of his affection. That's all there in that film. We did it subtly but the casting of Mark Patton was intentional too, because Mark was out and had done Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean. last year the director even said the movie was about "repressed sexual angst that every teenager experiences" and that "that angst can express itself in the question: Am I gay?"
Jun 3, 2021 I watched nightmare on elm street 4 and the first half of that movie really blows but the second half had some really f---ing cool ideas that made me come back around to kinda liking it by the end lol
Jun 3, 2021 Didn't know that! And that's cool! But, and I dont mean to disrespect, if I'm watching an Elmstreet movie idc about gays lol. I think turning freddy into a goofy clown ruined the character for me after part 3. It wasn't until 7 where he was really scary again, actually even more than in part 1. Obviously in FVSJ he was a joker again but that movie I got soft spot for lol.
