The intro was cool af at the funhouse. And the premise (a family of copycats trying to k--- them and take over their life) as well... but that whole 'underground clone' s--- and the dancing stuff etc. Pretentious as f--- lmao.

It was ruined for me when that guy clone started screaming like a r----- and the 'son' was such a weirdo. Also the woman wtf. And then the other family was copied too and the whole world was affected. Man if they kept the pretentious s--- it would have been 10 times better. I'll take The Strangers 1 and 2 over this even if this had so much potential. And yeah get out >

Like I said just like midsommar. Also ruined by pretentious artsy bs

    I definitely prefer 'Get Out'

I'd rate 'Us' at a 6.5/10 pretty much agree with your post, they definitely dropped the ball.

lmfao swear i experienced similar, got a mate who's shot guns (at other people n s--- - while guns are completely illegal here without HEAVY surveillance/legislation/restrictions etc etc etc.) c---- has legit let clips go at c---- that owe him money like "im spraying... if u get hit... shouldn't owe me money!?" like one of those c---- who LEGIT "makes the news". like he's a cool as f--- c---- and real humble guy, but he is like "nup. f--- that. i'm going home if you don't change the movie" when it comes to fictional horror movies but then on other side of the page is also like "they owe me a few hundred, ill scare the c---- so hard *gratatata @ their friends house*" lmfaooooo. like legit so weird i swear half these "killaz" or whatver from the hood are just f----- in the head

2.5 hours is waay to long imo. The Shining gets a pass.

Hereditary was also 2 hours. 1st hour was pretty boring imo. Nothing really happened. Nice character introductions I guess but the time they spent on that I wish they explained the plot some more instead of rushing that in the end. Last hour was great though ngl.

I think the movie will grow on me. Definitely gets added to the Halloween watchlist along w 1, 2, 3, 4 and H20.

I saw the new Suspiria on Friday...I did not enjoy it! There are some intriguing ideas and a few grisly kills, but they're buried in a 2.5-hour meandering whole. The film boasts an over-the-top, operatic finale, but for me it was a little too late.

    Gonna see it on Halloween!

And yeah @Syryus I'm proud of all of us. This is how discussion should be in regular threads.

@ComfortablyNumb I think I'm not gonna hate the new movie. If the music is good and the halloween setting is done right its already above ressurection, zombie movies and 5 and 6 for me :) but yeah I kinda feel its not a top tier one since all of u guys agree on that

I agree with a lot of this , especially

The whole lack of stalking and drawn out scenes, which goes into my primarily complaint with the film the total lack of suspense. The Annie scene in the original is iconic...and there is nothing like that whatsoever here. Why? Why not make the killing of the babysitter scene suspenseful and creepy instead of a few minutes of comedy and Michael just randomly appearing in the kids closet. How can the director not realize this. Just a poor poor decision

    Edit:

I was thinking about this a lot, and I've concluded that the lack of suspense during the middle of the film has to be due to having to speed it up to have time for the big confrontation scene at the end.

    Anyone else think
The podcasters were excellent and interesting? Should've been at least the secondary protagonists of the movie imo

very disappointed with how they were dealt with

Yeah, I pretty much agree. My biggest problem was that David Gordon Green doesn't prove to be all that adept at horror. There really aren't any standout sequences or set pieces here (The motion sensors part is cute and the ending is solid, but both hardly memorable), and some stretches are just kind of awkwardly staged.

I actually liked the idea of the podcasters and thought they had more potential. They sought to try to understand Michael, and the film could've done more to highlight the futility of explaining the unexplainable, particularly as a rejoinder to Rob Zombie's attempt at an origin story. I at least appreciated that the film mostly stuck to the original Shape conception of the character.

Two really good parts of the movie
In my opinion Jamie Lee Curtis did an excellent job playing a character who a lot of people weren't keen on after the trailers and stuff

And the Michael (look, mannerisms, movement etc) is one of the best in the franchise.

My immediate go-to's are Kiyoshi Kurosawa's twin masterpieces of Cure/Pulse. Both are just drenched in atmosphere...Kurosawa is a master of generating a sense of danger that you may not see or even understand, but you certainly feel it. There are a few stretches in each that are among the most haunting I've ever seen in a horror film. Horror itself is highly subjective though, so one's mileage may vary.

I just got back from the new Halloween myself...I'll keep quiet though until more people get a chance to check it out.
