I Know What You Did Last Summer
Yeah so this is basically Screams twin brother to me. Also because I saw Scary Movie 1 before any of them and its based on those 2 movies lol. It was fun to recognize the parody stuff in the 'real' movies.
Obviously, this one isn't as good as Scream and it doesn't have 5 great sequels either. Not a huge fan of 2 and 3 was a---. I did hear there's gonna be a reboot though, very interested in that!
What I like about this is that it takes a while before the actual killing starts. The taunts, the messages, showing he could easily get to them without really harming them, nice touch imo. Also the fisher town was a nice stage. It sure helps that it has Jennifer Love Hugh t-ts and Sarah Michelle Gellar as well btw.
One of my favorite slashers, with hopefully a new chapter soon! 8/10DiggleDogg69, Marsh and Ripper Roo like this. -

Late Night With The Devil
Like I mentioned earlier, I've made the mistake before to hype up a new movie for months, only to be let down eventually. Most recent examples US and Midsommar.
I have seen zero spoilers for this other than that it would be found footage and the ending had mixed reviews. When I saw found footage I was afraid it was gonna be like Blair Witch, REC, Paranormal Activity and other f---ing awful shaky movies with people filming themselves. Technically this is FF, but it plays like a normal movie thank god.
Past few days I've been calling a lot of movies 'fun' with the best examples being Happy Death Day and Freaky. They do have some suspense, but are never scary imo. Also they focus a lot on teenage drama like self empowerment (I AM A PIECE!!!!!!!! -cringe-) and 'I need to be a better person' boohoo. But they are comedy/drama/slasher movies so I can't blame them. I do think earlier slashers like Scream and Halloween are waaaay scarier (to an extent) than most of the modern ones.
That said, if I treat the fun movies like actual horrors, I would not rate them as high.
This I realized again while watching this movie.
It is not action packed, but it also has no sentimental boohoo stuff, it's just creepy as s--- for 90 minutes.
The real horror only takes place the second half of the movie but the whole vibe, even before the demon revealed himself that girl was so d--- creepy lol. It has been a long time since a horror movie really made me this uncomfortable. And that is what I want from a horror movie.
After I watched I was desperately googeling for movies similar to this but so far no luck. This was a pretty unique one. The ending, people have different opinions on it. Biggest issue I have is that it ended so abruptly. I wasn't ready for this ride to end. But other than that I think it was cool. Especially the connection with the summer camp or whatever it was called and the cult.
In the end the message obviously was: you have to sacrifice things for fame. It was a bit chaotic at the end and after most of the movie was a bit slow I get people being confused a bit. But I think it was really well done and yeah, thank god this time all my anticipation wasn't let down!
Best horror movie in years imo. Also highest score I gave a movie this horror season so far!

Happy Death Day
Groundhog Day meets.. teenage slasher.
It doesn't really have much gore, the kills are mostly off camera. Also they say 'freaking' instead it f---ing. It's meant as a fun slasher for a larger audience than, for example, Scream.
But it does a great job at that. Jessica Rothe is great here (and hot ofc) and its just really well done overall. The sequel is also fun but has a little too much nerd in it lol.
First one is gr8 though! 7.7/10Ripper Roo, Marsh and DiggleDogg69 like this. -

Aight vamooos!
Started my horror watch yesterday with a light one:
Freaky
I love the opening. It's a nice hommage to Scream and other classic slashers that have random teens being attacked before the 'main' story starts.
First off, huge huge props to both Katherine Newton and Vince Vaughn. Playing 2 completely different characters and they crushed both.
Loved how Katherine first played the shy teen and then turned into a cold b---- (and vice versa).
The kills were cool. Story itself as well, nice Freaky Friday/Scream combo.
I do think its a bit heavy on the hallmark touchy feelings stuff, but then again its a Hollywood teen slasher movie in 2020 and a lot of slashers do this.
Also, none of the kills were really 'bad' imo. I kinda liked that but also think they could have done more with that subject. What I mean with not bad is that the Butcher (being Millie) basically killed all her bullies. The creepy a------ hartless teacher, the gossipy b----, maybe they didn't deserve to die but I didn't feel bad. And last but not least the 3 guys that were trying to r--- her, they 100% deserved to be slaughtered. But the movie never really explored that part further.
The ending is so dumb though. How he suddenly was fine after being shot multiple times (he's not me!!) just to have a little women power moment at the end. I AM A PIECE!! Lmao so f---ing corny.
Still, enjoyable movie overall! 7/10DiggleDogg69, Ripper Roo and Marsh like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Stranger Things 2
I liked this season almost as much as the first season, but it was slightly worse. This had almost everything I liked about the first season, but I had two issues:
- The mystique of the lab is now gone which detracts from the intrigue of the show
- El’s episode. It was cool to see more of her backstory but a whole episode about it was a bit much. The pacing of that episode felt really slow, and for the first time with this show I almost got bored. I assume this is the episode @Marsh thought felt out of place.

Terrifier 3 (2024)
Holy f---, I’ve been hyping this movie all year as my most anticipated horror movie of the year, and it paid off. Even better than I expected it to be, and my hopes were high. Terrifier 3 is quite literally everything great about the first 2 installments and mashing it all together into one vile, disgusting film. It genuinely had me considering knocking down my rankings of T1 and T2, that’s how good it was. Even though the movie is just over 2 hours, you don’t feel the runtime like you do with T2. The direction is much more professional due to Damien Leone being able to focus more on directing since he had the budget to hire a team for the sfx. Speaking of sfx, as usual, f---ing nuts. Like I said, vile and disgusting film. There were some moments when I had my jaw on the floor, like the shower scene. Art is hilarious in this one, and Sienna is the powerful final girl that she was in T2, but amplified and PTSD-stricken. Now for my final point (since I try to keep these reviews concise, but ask away if you want me to expand on anything), this is the Terrifier movie with the most consistently great acting. David Howard Thornton as Art and Lauren LaVera as Sienna of course were both amazing like they were in T2, Elliott Fullam brought the Jonathan character even more to life, even the child actor Antonella Rose was great as Sienna and Jonathan’s younger cousin! Supporting cast also was fantastically acted, especially that opening scene…SLASHER MASTERCLASS, RANKS JUST OUTSIDE OF MY TOP 10 SLASHERS EVER.
P.S., they went there. You know what I mean if you’ve been following the controversy of this movie since November of last year
