Mar 14, 2023 @jankland now in spoilers Spoiler - I do think its weird that the killer knew so much about Gails history. He said we finally speak... but its not Myers or Jason, its a completely different killer and this one had no connection to the OG characters.... only to Sam. I am very very glad she survived though. - the fact that Mindy and her brother survived is weird. Mindy at the end was running towards Sam and Tara... its one thing she survived but like this? Also the dude was stabbed by 2 people multiple times... same as Tara in S5. Makes no sense that he's fine -or that Tara was perfectly healthy a year later lol- - it being Richies family was a nice touch, and so was the whole hommage to all the killers. Finally they also acknowledged Roman Bridger which they didn't in 4 and 5... but no mention of the fact that he orchastrated it all. - I'm happy they mentioned Sidney multiple times. Because as I said I don't think 'the core 4' alone can keep me interested in this franchise. It needs Gale and/or Sidney. Kirby was a nice addition and I have a feeling Stu will also return or others. I swear if they gonna bring Sidney or Gale back just to k--- them off (like almost happened here) I'm done. Which is a shame because so far I love all 6 movies. Very very impressive. Part 7 lets gooo!
Mar 14, 2023 I think Jenna is just a better actress, so giving her the main role makes more sense to me
Mar 14, 2023 Her role in 6 is bigger than in 5. Its basically 2 leads even if the story is more about Sam
Mar 14, 2023 Spoiler: Spoiler I kinda disagree on Gale, I think a lot of horror movie sequels rely too heavily on nostalgia so I would've enjoyed them killing off more main characters than just Dewey. It definitely is weird at the amount of people that survived though, I like everyone who does survive but if you're gonna show someone get stabbed 88 times at least follow through with it lmao. Also agree on the killers knowing a lot but I chalked that off to them also being fans because of Richie. I think it would be interesting if they leaned into it and made Sam a Cory from Halloween kills type but actually fleshed out, judging on the way they write I don't think it's gonna happen but it's intriguing to see where they go with her. Also I've still crazily never seen Scream 3! All I know about it was the original story for it that never happened and that seemed cool as s--- tbh.
Mar 15, 2023 Yeah even if its never shown in the other movies, S3 is like the most important one of the first 3 in a way. Also, I disagree with you on the first point. The main reason people (well at least I and I know many others) are invested in franchises is the connection to the characters. Had Scream 5 with an entirely new cast, I wouldn't have bothered checking it. The best and at the same time worst moment of the movie is the death of Dewey. It doesn"t mean s--- to someone that started w 5, but for longtime fans its a big deal. Just having randon teens taking their place and some new kid having a ghostface mask isn't gonna cut it for a lot of fans. You could see how mad people were for Halloween Ends.. and it even had Myers and Laurie. If it was just Cory going mad and no connection to Michael or Laurie, nobody would have bothered to check. Imo nostalgia definitely plays a huge role. If not, they could have just started a new franchise with a new story. Another example how happy fans were Heather returned for Elmst 3 and later for 7. And Laurie for Halloween H20 and the new trilogy.... it definitely matters.
Mar 15, 2023 I think it's pretty good and the setting is great but the ending kinda drops the ball of the set up even if it's super well acted, you'd probably hate it lmao.
Mar 15, 2023 Tbf I think this is my thought process as both a Marvel and Star Wars fan (and a viewer of modern movies and requels in general) where nostalgia has been shoved in my face for a decade straight to the point of being sickening, I agree that you should keep an older character or two for a couple movies but I think they should he written off after that.
Mar 15, 2023 Bro that has nothing to do with nostalgia but the fact that star wars is for geeks Bot for real, I think characters should be written off as soon as they bring nothing anymore. Killing them off just for shock is lame (sometimes it does work) and keeping them for the sake of it too. But I think even after 5 movies the OG Scream cast is still killing it!
