Nov 27, 2014 MBDTF isn't even his best album imo.. College Dropout is...with Late Registration following suite.
Nov 27, 2014 I used to agree with this, but I've been liking MBDTF more and more lately. But they're all so close in quality that it doesn't matter. My list for a lot of years has been CD > LR > MBDTF > 808s > Grad. I'd place Yeezus last on that list (not to say its a bad album).
Nov 27, 2014 if anyone says this they are bat s--- crazy. dont matter who they are. too many other ATG albums.
Nov 28, 2014 It's not really any crazier than calling Illmatic or the Blueprint the greatest hip-hop album of all time. It's just slightly newer in the scope of things.
Nov 28, 2014 I agree with the last two points, and if the first point was in the last 20 years, I'd say yes to that as well.
Nov 29, 2014 I appreciate the Wire GIF, but why? I guarantee you that in 10 years MBDTF is going to be widely considered an all-time classic of Illmatic/Blueprint caliber. Plus, this s---'s better than the Blueprint anyway. Undeniable classic, but I've always preferred TBA/RD/AG as far as Jay albums go.
Nov 29, 2014 in any case, the point big country was making is that dark fantasy is an all-time great album, and it's no more absurd to pick one said album than it is to pick another. that's all.
Nov 29, 2014 Yeah, @WPG hit the nail on the head. MBDTF is widely considered one of the greatest contemporary rap albums (by both critics and fans), and in 5-10 years I'm positive it'll be vetted to Illmatic/Blueprint level. I'm not saying it necessarily is or isn't THE greatest of all time, but it's not exactly a controversial or uncommon choice. Of course there's going to be a vocal minority that disagrees, but remember on SL when Illmatic nearly lost a poll against f---ing MMLP2? If there are that many people who think MMLP2 is better than Illmatic, of course there are going to be people who aren't as impressed with MBDTF. Well, if it is, I'm almost certain that Lance Reddick has that exact same line The Wire, lol.
