Feb 26, 2023 Loved hearing all the alternate mixes, added instrumentation, creative transitions, etc. For some of these songs I’d rather listen to the concert version now. Having Heartless transition into Low Life was so smart due to the “low life” lyric similarity. That crowd was so out of sync with each other when they were singing the After Hours chorus lol. Anyway The Weeknd has an amazing voice as usual. The stage design is cool but that big moon definitely gets in the way for some people. The dancers had an easy job, they just stood around most of the time lol
Feb 26, 2023 I feel like some of the highlights from Dawn could have been performed better, but he killed them at Coachella anyway
Feb 27, 2023 Yeah, Secrets is still one of my favorite songs of his ever. And watching his HBO special concert the other night made me remember how fire the Starboy song itself is. Party Monster is another fav of mine. Ordinary Life is a sleeper, that one hits me
Feb 27, 2023 Starboy is f---ing great. Always loved it. I dont understand the hate against it. but i love every weeknd project with the exception of dawn fm.
Feb 27, 2023 It’s hated because it was clearly made to establish him as a hitmaker rather than being an album with an actual narrative like his albums before Beauty Behind The Madness. I am a huge fan of him and love these albums, but even I would say either Starboy or Beauty Behind The Madness are his weakest albums because of that reason I stated earlier. These albums were smart and were definitely needed to help elevate him to that mega star status, but more often than not the songs that weren’t hits or singles ended up being filler songs. I’m glad he went back to an actual narrative with After Hours.
Feb 27, 2023 Yeah i agree but even for what it is. A non cohesive album full of hits, starboy is f---ing great. the album that i dont feel cohesive at all is Dawn FM. He tries so hard to convincing us that is a narrative with the last minute change of the title (it was originally just The Dawn) and the Jim Carrey skits but i can bet… those things were the last thing recorded so the critics cant say anything about he dont making a “cohesive” album. He has a sound but i don't feel the soul and passion that he has on AH. It feels lazy to me.
Feb 27, 2023 Interesting take, I’ve never thought about it that way before. I think Dawn FM would still be a cohesive narrative even without the radio s---, but I can definitely see where you’re coming from. I was confused about the radio thing at first and felt like it was tacked on, but eventually I grew to love it and felt it worked. I also just have a soft spot for 80s music because the adults around me played it a lot when I was a kid, and I thought The Weeknd did great with it
Feb 28, 2023 The Weeknd Sets First Lead Role in Film He Co-Wrote and Produced, Opposite Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye will have his first starring role in a feature film that he wrote and is also producing. The picture, which is currently untitled and has been kept shrouded in mystery regarding its plot, genre and the like is being directed by Trey Edward Shults, the filmmaker behind “Waves” and “It Comes at Night.” Shults also co-wrote the movie and is executive producing it. We do know that it is shooting in Los Angeles, but aside from that the “logline is being kept under wraps.” https://variety.com/2023/film/news/the-weeknd-movie-jenna-ortega-barry-keoghan-1235538592/
Mar 1, 2023 Prediction: in your eyes from after hours is a massive hit at the level of blinding lights but never exploded. In some point is going to explode like Die For You now. Thanks to a tik tok trend or a movie or something like that
Mar 2, 2023 It has the same director so it’s definitely going to be Euphoria 2.0, which I don’t mind since I like Euphoria even if season 2 was sloppy.
Mar 2, 2023 Hated s2, who the f--- cares about Lexi's play? lol and fat b---- was getting too annoying, glad they kicked her out.
