Jul 13, 2021 controversial opinion: The best 2 series ever made are Lost & Breaking Bad. Scoff at the inclusion of Lost next to BB, but what made it so great was that it was the most fun to watch, speculate, & discuss as it progressed. I think I started watching at season 4-ish and was nearly driven insane having to wait a week at a time to watch the next episode.
Jul 13, 2021 triple post: Prior to jumping in, I thought it was some sort of cheesy modern-day Gilligan's Island . My tiny brain didn't realize how tiny it was until I stumbled upon an episode while flipping through the channels and saw a re-run on SyFy. The scene that I stumbled across remains one of my top 10 favorite scenes in the series today.
Jul 13, 2021 I respect that, theres a lot of value in mindless entertainment, same reason TWD is one of my favorite shows ever but it fell in the same pit as Lost
Jul 13, 2021 I think it is the best part. Locke confuses me. I dont know if he is complete weirdo or actually a decent guy. Shannon i find quite annoying. Sawyer is a great character. I can sense he was popular on RB back in the day. Edgy lol
Jul 13, 2021 Both of these shows were similar in that that they were such huge cultural moments that were fun to discuss each week and try to speculate on what was gonna happen. I love them both but neither can touch Sopranos, Mad Men, or The Wire imo.
Jul 13, 2021 The last show to have that week to week cultural impact was Game of Thrones. And even tho I don't hold it in as high esteem as my top 3, I still really appreciate shows like that that are things I can talk about with virtually all social circles—family, friends, coworkers, twitter fam, sxn80 fam, etc. Succession is the only thing I can think of that has that potential, but idk if it'll ever appeal to an audience as wide as GOT, Breaking Bad, LOST.
Jul 13, 2021 the rendering on the title sequence always drove me batshit: top of the "O" comes in as well a second later. shoddy & was never fixed
Jul 13, 2021 I watched this whole series last summer. It was a fun watch. It did start to creep into game of thrones territory as far as falling off in the later seasons. shout out to the polar bears. Also it was funny as f--- randomly listening to Memories by Weezer the other day, and seeing not only was Hurley on the cover of that album, they actually named the whole project after him lmao.
Jul 13, 2021 when you're ready, @M.I.C. dropped a couple Lost-inspired albums back in the day. The Constant, The Incident, and The Variable (the titles will make sense later)
Jul 13, 2021 Retro Fo also dropped a single called "I Love Lost" that's on youtube (won't post it here since it has mad spoilers in the track).
Jul 13, 2021 There will be no driveshaft slander in this thread You All Everybody was the biggest hit in the early 2000s
Jul 13, 2021 https://www.last.fm/music/M.I.C./The+Variable https://www.last.fm/music/M.I.C./The+Constant ...can't find The Incident. not sure how much of the content was inspired, or if it was just the title & covers themselves. maybe @M.I.C. will visit and bless us with the rundown
Jul 13, 2021 Man I want to watch this again not knowing what happens next. One of my favourite memories in life is sitting in the living room of the flat I shared with 4 other guys and all of us just enthralled by Lost every week. And then being left in complete awe at the end of every episode. More questions than answers all the time!
Jul 13, 2021 I’m so used to modern “prestige TV” that it’s kinda jarring going back to Bush-era network TV tropes. The idea of 24 episodes in a season for a drama series is insane to me now.
