    His label really blew a huge bag on him to get the rights to Old Town Road and now they’re desperately trying to keep him relevant but he isn’t talented enough to do anything else for them, no1 will care about this by next week

    Honestly I think he's popular enough with gen z on tiktok/insta/etc that he's gonna do well. Not as well as OTR of course, but tiktok is powerful, and he's part of that generation and knows how to use social media to his advantage.

    i guess i cant really gauge how popular he is there, it just doesn’t seem like he puts out enough music to me. The last thing I recall was that epic flop of a Panini song. It seems like his label is marketing him as if it was 10-15 years ago by trying to make his image a gimmick/meme but without that being paired with a ton of content output i dont see how that can work today

    Panini is 5x plat—obviously not as huge as OTR but that's legit one of the biggest rap songs of all time. His last single before this one (Holiday) went plat a few days ago—but songs going single platinum I feel like is way easier/more common these days and there was barely any discourse around the song, so I'd def consider that a flop.

    For an artist like him I feel like his constant tiktok presence keeps his name alive and relevant with fans/young people. But I spose we'll have to see how his album does.

    I'm very interested to see how the album pans out. He'll probably never top Old Town Road but he's already gone way beyond one-hit-wonder status and it seems like he has the talent (and label backing) to take into long-term superstardom. Crazy to think if he had dropped 10+ years ago he probably wouldn't have had nearly as much of a chance at that though.
