Dec 8, 2014 Don't get me wrong i like kendrick and think GKMC is a great album but Eminem is still one of the best to ever do it he might not be as good as he was back in the MMLP & TES era but i actually think he is getting better with every release and he tries to listen to what his fans want. I know i'm probably gonna get called a stan for this lol

GKMC got an average of 91/100 on metacritic which is one of the highest scores for a hip hop album, its unviersally acclaimed, meaning publciations from every genre of music thought the album is either a 9 or a 10/10. can't say the same for Eminem and objectively speaking, gkmc has way more 10/10 songs than most Eminem albums (mmlp would be the exception)

Please don't compare one of the worst albums of 2010 (RECOVERY) to one of the most praised albums of the last 5 years. Eminem is my favorite rapper of all time but Every song on GKMC is better than any song on recovery

Dec 8, 2014 I decided to revisit the album a few weeks ago and yeah, this is easily one of , if not the greatest album of our generation. When people revisit the decade 2010-2019, Good Kid Maad City will definitely be #1 or #2 on them lists... this is a legit classic.
Dec 8, 2014 lol what...there was maybe 2-3 weak tracks but the album is certainly still VERY good and to call it "bad kid maad city" is actually pretty accurate not to mention gkmc is in a league of its own, so I'm completely fine with it not being on that level lol

And I agree that the album is much better than section 80. not every day a rapper comes out with an album as thematically cohesive and story driven as GKMC. Dude told specific stories that are very relatable to those who feel pressured by the environment. Section.80 has great individual songs. However, the album as a whole isn't as cohesive as GKMC thematically or stylistically. I also found his style more refined, emotional, and powerful on GKMC, especially when you look at the narrative told through the album. The beats are also much better on GKMC imo, Those who know history of hip-hop will notice how his backing tracks have seamlessly integrated late 80s/early 90s production touchstones with modern atmospheres, timelegiving the album a ss, ever-classic sound. To the average listener, the songs just sound great and have hooks galore in them. So, as music, GKMC nods to the past while forging ahead.
