    My main problem with DONDA is this: Kanye seems to have forgotten how to make great drops. Now don’t get me wrong - I like the album, but the whole thing seems to skate by at 45mph the entire time. Think of a song like All Of The Lights which builds up into this amazingly epic moment. Now compare that song to any song on here. The song structure just isn’t there anymore. I think a song like NCLB could really benefit from one of these moments. Instead, it just slowly goes on and on until it’s over.

    With that being said, this is my favourite Kanye album in a long long time. I’m happy with it, I just wish it was a bit more exciting

    so my one listen thoughts:

    -why are all the songs so g.d. short? There needs to be another grandiose centerpiece type song here. Use this Gospel is the only one, which is amazing, but...that's it

    -why doesn't it sound more lush/full? will we get a mixing update? plz mike dean

    -jesusy lyrics. meh. I don't mind them in theory, but the album just doesn't sound...full enough? for me to gloss over them and they get distracting

    -the overall production/sonic direction i really really dig. But because of the mixing choices/short songs/lack of centerpieces, it just doesn't have that vibrance an album like mbdtf or yeezus has. it's tied together, certainly better than ye, but pretty thinly. really hope we get a streaming update that makes it sound a lil tighter

    -at the very least, it's more interesting than ye. i feel like I actually need to sit on this a little more to develop my opinion rather than ye where i was just grappling with it being mediocre.

    -i'm gonna be able to have some fun compiling these songs with all the yahndi leaks (and cut songs that will surely be sold now that the official is out) to see what i can come up with comp wise
