Nov 13, 2024 I love songs with this subject matter that talk about the expectations people place upon others. It felt like the rock version of a Count Me Out or a Crown by Kendrick Lamar. The sound was also unexpected but something that reminds me of things I like in modern music. I could feel the emotion in Beth and it was definitely a switch up for the album. I could definitely see why people like it but idk man for some reason it didn’t hit for me. It’s not a bad song by any means though
Nov 13, 2024 Kiss- Destroyer Only knew a handful of songs before jumping into this album. First thing I noticed and I noticed Ripperroo also mentioned is how 70s this album sounds and it's f---ing awesome. The intro of "Detroit rock city" with the added touches starts the album out strong, then jumps into my favorite track "kings of the night time world". "Shout it loud" is a classic as is "Beth". Once again I agree with Ripper that Beth is a tad over rated. My main gripe with the album is that although it has some really great songs, some of them fell flat, but the 70s vibe of the album keeps my score quite high. Added about half of the songs to my big playlist. Top 3 songs are definitely Detroit Rock City, Kings of the nighttime world and Shout it Loud. Rating 7/10 @AOTWClub
Nov 13, 2024 I don’t think we’ve ever agreed this much on music before lol These must be the big hits of the album or something because I swear I’ve heard these songs but never knew they were made by Kiss
Nov 13, 2024 Review soon but want to say this movie went triple platinum in my household https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit_Rock_City_(film)
Nov 13, 2024 I have an OG pressing of the vinyl from the 70’s, think it was in my dad’s collection before I snatched it. Still sounds f---ing amazing for the actual vinyl itself to be almost 50 years old. It’s wild for me to think that it was just sitting on the shelf in a store one day nearly 3 decades before I was even born
Nov 13, 2024 @AOTWClub Action Bronson has been tallied and ended up with a 6.9 Main page has been updated
Nov 15, 2024 KISS - Destroyer Even though I consider myself a pretty big rock fan, I'll admit that I've never really listened to too much glam rock. It's near impossible to not be aware who KISS are, but aside from their big hits like "Rock And Roll All Nite" I knew basically nothing about their catalog. Overall though, I actually enjoyed this album quite a bit. For an 80's rock album, it has everything I'd expect and want from an 80's rock album. I'm not gonna act like my entire view on music is changed by this album or anything, but it's a very enjoyable, replayable record. I particularly like the vocals on "Sweet Pain" but I have to admit that "Beth" didn't really do much for me. Also I know that "Rock and Roll Party" is a hidden track but it really didn't do much for me. And this is coming from someone who's a Revolution 9 apologist. So yeah, I liked the album. I'll check out some of their records soon as well (Dressed to k--- looks pretty interesting) and yeah. FAVORITES: God of Thunder, Flaming Youth, Sweet Pain Rating: 7/10
Nov 16, 2024 @AOTWClub Tomorrow,.I the great Justin Trudeau will be choosing an album to bless your ears. I hope you all enjoy it Make sure you get your reviews in for Kiss- Destroyer
Nov 17, 2024 Eminems "Relapse" is not a horror core album, @AOTWClub is about to learn what one is My pick for this week is: Brotha Lynch Hung- Mannibalector Ripperroo: 7/10 Joeyp363: 7/10 Yeez: 6/10 Diggledogg: 7.5/10 Stepdad enjoyer: 6.5/10 Michael Myers: 7/10 Jankland: 7.5/10 48.5/70= 6.9 Mannibalector received generally positive reviews from music critics. In a positive review AllMusic's David Jeffries writes "Hung is a craftsman, kicking off this horror movie on wax with a TV news report that gives up the back-story and then goes full Hollywood, joining skits, numerous sound effects, and a relentless, blockbuster pace, all making this an album worth avoiding if it's dark." Roman Cooper of HipHopDX noted "Make no mistake, BLH’s emceeing arsenal is still quite impressive. Whether it’s the rapid-fire flows over the frenetic and disturbing strings of 'Krocadil' or steady delivery over extremely minimalist production on 'MDK', Lynch is unquestionably adept at his craft." Enjoy I will tally up Kiss- Destroyer on Wednesday Night
Nov 17, 2024 In September 1996, Joseph Edward "Bubba" Gallegos, an 18-year-old from Bayfield, Colorado, killed his roommates after ingesting methamphetamine and listening repeatedly to Locc 2 Da Brain, a song from Brotha Lynch Hung. After attempting to k--- his ex-girlfriend and taking two other students hostage, Gallegos was in turn killed by police. Gallegos was said to be a massive fan of Brotha Lynch Hung, and his minister suggested that the music played a role in the killings.
