Mar 10, 2025 Very few rap releases these days feel like events. Kendrick, Tyler, Travis, Carti, Metro Boomin, Eminem (sometimes) who else? Maybe Thugger? Ye used to feel like events now they feel like disasters. I guess Rocky’s could be an event because it’s been so long
Mar 10, 2025 These are the artists that I think feel like events: - Kendrick - Tyler - Travis - Carti - Eminem (this is mainly an Eminem forum anyway) - The Weeknd (not rap, but I feel like many raps fans are into his music) Then there's artists that used to be event-level, but aren't anymore for a variety of reasons (controversy, drop in quality, etc.) I still feel that they could climb back to event level if the stars align: - Ye (Donda was BIG, but after V2 i'm not sure if he can ever be that relevant again) - Drake - J. Cole (at least outside of JCN) - Future (WDTY and WSDTY were pretty big, but Mixtape Pluto didn't really do much) - Young Thug (He was in prison for years, so maybe his next will be an event) - Wayne (Depends on C6's quality)
Mar 10, 2025 The thing about the 31 members that voted is that, some of them just aren't active like... at all. Like the third reply ITT is from a user that participated in week 1, and never again. I did find it kinda weird that some posters contributed frequently, giving detailed reviews and all, and then they stopped posting once their album week was over. I kinda wish we had convinced @Marsh to participate though

Mar 10, 2025 Evad will always have my respect for choosing the strangest JPEGMAFIA album as the 3rd album lmao. Once we go back to albums, I'm curious about which artist will be the first to have multiple albums picked. There's a few I've thought about picking in the future (JPEGMAFIA, Bowie, Three Six, Ice Cube, Bowie, Manson) but I'm not sure if I'd go through with any of them
Mar 10, 2025 Might go with hip-hop when we do albums again. I don’t think I’ve picked a hip-hop record yet. There’s one underrated album I’ve been meaning to pick for a while and I’m pretty sure a lot of people here haven’t heard it but will like it.

Mar 10, 2025 Something about the mixtapes that's super underrated is that they allow us to include songs from albums that we like, but probably wouldn't have picked for the club. Like the Aphex song i chose last time is one of my favorite songs ever, but I probably wouldn't have chosen that album for a multitude of reasons
