It only took someone 3 weeks before an appeal to my 'tism was selected.
Although his singing doesn't work for me all the time I still enjoy most of the songs and think it all works pretty well together. Other people could definitely find the production or lyrics to be overly abrasive but as someone who's had to get used to his style already I'm at home. He just really knows how to flow well over his beats in an extremely entertaining way.
Favorite tracks: Jesus Forgive Me, I'm A Thot, Kenan Vs Kel, Prone, PTSD, Thot Tactics All My Heroes Are Cornballs, and Papi I Missed U.
Favorite Feature: there's not many to choose from so Helena DeLand on Free The Frail, her voice is great.
Favorite Line: "ONE SHOT CAN TURN STEVE BANNON INTO STEVE HAWKING"

Least Favorite Songs: JPEG Mafia type beat, grimy waifu, life's hard heres a song about sorrel, thot tactics
Review:
The cover itself is an instant turn off to Start. Looks like someone the younger crowd would idolize these days though. So I'm not surprised he's popular among that crowd.
Anyways I know not to judge a book by its cover lol so im open minded and excited to listen to someone ive never really checked out before. My first listen to this album I f---ing hated it.
Second listen it's like I started to get it a little bit, but This album isn't really my thing. My main issue is I feel like I could listen to this 1000 times and wouldn't remember which song is which. It just sounds like a random mash up constantly.
The mash up production is sort of interesting at time but I don't really find anything in the lyrics to be really interesting or attention grabbing. I don't know, I don't hate it I just don't really like it that much.
But i'm a boomer old head who doesn't know good music If it slapped me in the face, I also wouldn't be caught dressing or associating with anyone dressed like the cover of this album lol
RATING: 4/10

JPEGMafia - All My heroes are cornballs
Favorite tracks: Ptsd, Free from Frail?
Least favorite: All
I tried to approach this album with an open mind even though I wasn't expecting to like it based on what I've heard before. And despite my efforts, I couldn't find any redeeming qualities.
Not a fan of the cover or the song titles. The music sounded like a bunch of noise to me. From an artistic standpoint, I struggle to see what makes this good. It feels like a collection of disjointed sounds.
I felt similar about Yeezus the first time I heard it, but even Yeezus makes more sense to me and felt like a more cohesive experience.
Perhaps there's something that i'm missing or that I didn't ''get'', but if understanding it requires enduring this sonic journey, I will pass.

Sorry for getting this in so last minute, it’s been a hectic week on my end (and also the Em hype but we know about all that already). Here’s my review finally. I’ve heard J Hus’ name in passing, but not very often, so in all honesty I had forgotten about him. That’s not an insult to him at all, I just hadn’t seen his name in conversation in awhile, and we all know how crazy everything has been in the last few years. I actually realized while listening to the album, that he made the song Must Be. I never realized that this song was by him. I honestly think I heard it on iFruit radio on GTAV lol. Here, however, we have Big Conspiracy. I don’t think I have ever listened to an entire album of UK rap before, so this was definitely new for me. I do want to start by saying that the two features from iceè tgm at the start are both beautiful and have some great singing from iceè, it makes me want to dive into her music off rip. I’ve never heard of her before but now I would love to hear more. Now with Big Conspiracy, I like what I hear, I just don’t know if it is something I would constantly play. I’m more used to the harder sounding UK rap songs. No Denying is the kind of sound I went in expecting, but it just felt like whiplash to get this with the 9 previous tracks having a different sound to No Denying. Maybe I just have to be more in a mood to dance and chill out to fully embrace this album for what it is. Now I’m not shi--ing on the album at all, I actually enjoyed every song besides Triumph. I’m just not sure how often I’ll come back to this project as a whole, like I said earlier I feel like I’d have to be in a certain mood. Solid project however and a nice intro to J Hus! He might be someone who just has to grow on me as I continue to hear his music or explore his discog more. Thanks for the pick @hargydon!

J Hus - Big Conspiracy
Favorite songs: Helicopter, One and Only, Love Peace and Prosperity, Fortune Teller, Big Conspiracy
Skips: No Denying (based on 1 listen so for what its worth)
Overal thoughts: let me start out by praising the production on this. This is the ultimate album to just lay back and relax. Also has different sounds I like that. I'm a sucker for collabs like Helicopter and One And Only that has a nice female hook (without being generic or too poppy). Elle Mai and Icee are very good here. Triumph and Fortune Teller are f---ing bangers. As much as I dislike burner boy I can't just not vibe to that song lol.
I'd be lying if I didn't have to get used to the accent but it doesn't really bother me.
Definitely some songs I'm gonna download and add to my playlist! This was a good idea, 2 albums so far I never heard and are pretty cool!

I was taking a risk choosing a Bri ish rap album to people outside of the country, but @icecube suggestion prompted me to switch up my choice. I thought this album best suited the mood, & was light enough on vibe & accent to not throw you guys off too much but also give you an insight into some of the sounds coming out of here.
I’m glad everyone has been open minded enough to listen & enjoy it to some extent! My country’s rap music is severely underrated imo.icecube, Ordinary Joel, jankland and 3 others like this. -

J Hus - Big Conspiracy:
I hadn't even heard of J Hus before Hargy recommended the record, so this was a new discovery for me. Aside from a few Skepta singles/features I haven't listened to many British rappers (21 Savage doesn't count), so this was a pretty good intro. I really dug the instrumentals (I listen to a lot of dancehall so they really appealed to me), and I thought J Hus rapped pretty well. I enjoyed the album overall, and I'll probably heck out his 2023 album at some point.

Isaiah Rashad - Cilvia Demo
Not gonna lie, I struggled a bit with this one. I felt the album didn't really get going until Modest. I liked the references to the more mainstream side of things from then on.
Bears were ok, lyrics and flow were good/great across the whole project I just didn't feel it clicking for me.
Also, no Kendrick feature sticks out to me for a TDE album.
Overall good but not something I'd return to, I gave it a full 10 spins though. 6/10.Ordinary Joel, jankland, BornSinner and 3 others like this. -
