Jul 7, 2024On the real though, the last few months on this forum have been the most fun it has ever been and this specific thread has played a role in that, thanks @Justin Trudeau for putting this together and everyone here sharing! All the jokes and bs and trolling aside that takes place on this entire site, this place is fun to talk about different things and I’m glad I became more active and less nervous to speak out here lmao. I like the diversity among the albums, each one of them was unique but i'm hoping to find one that finally resonates enough to earn a 8+ rating from me. None of them have quite hit that mark yet. But none of them were bad. Well except.. You know the one

Paris Texas - Mid Air
This was another new discovery for me thanks to this club. I’d heard about Paris Texas before because I’m a pretty big lana del rey fan, and for some reason I assumed that soundwise they’d be similar to JPEGMAFIA or BROCKHAMPTON (on a sidenote, I actually have gone to Paris, Texas before. Nothing too special aside from an eiffel tower with a cowboy hat on top)
I actually really dug this album. Definitely more rock influenced than i expected. I love almost every single instrumental and dear god, these guys are amazing at hooks. The verses were really good too with my favorites being on “Everybody Safe Until” and “Full English”. I’ll definitely check out their debut at some point and I can’t wait to see what they release next.
Favorites: tenTHIRTYseven, Sean-Jared, Nüwhip, Everybody Safe Until, Lift Off, Earth-2, Airborne, Full English

Title: Paris Texas - MID AIR
Standouts: tenTHIRTYseven, DnD, Sean-Jared, Closed Caption, BULLET MAN, PANIC!!!, Lift Off, Ain't No high
Skips: Airborne, Earth-2
Score: 8/10
Final Thoughts:
"Mid Air" is a new and exciting follow-up from their previous release "BOY ANONYMOUS", which I enjoyed immensely at the time. This time around, the duo shows their versatility with high-quality production that combines powerful beats and reflective, melodic moments. Their energetic and engaging vocal style adds depth to the album, and the lyrics offer a raw and honest mix of personal thoughts and social commentary. Fans of genre-blending music and those looking for something outside the mainstream will find much to appreciate here. While it's certainly isn't perfect, it is however a significant addition to their discography and hints at even greater potential for the future.
Overall, it's a strong effort from Paris Texas that demonstrates their growth and willingness to take risks.

Three 6 Mafia- When the Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1
Favorite Tracks: 44 Killers, Sippin on some Syrup, I'm So HI, Tongue Ring, Who Run It
Least Favorite Tracks: Weak a--- b----(I hate the annoying sound in the background)
This album was a real throwback for me, I'd heard it many times, my friend group growing up became friends with a guy who'd moved to Canada from Texas. So he got us all Into the southern rap scene, so I'm very familiar with the three 6 Mafia and most of their albums.
I love Three 6 Mafia, but realized while listening to this, I love listening to the songs I like when they come on in my playlist. I don't necessarily like a whole album by them.
Juicy J is great, I love his solo work and I'm kind of tempted to pick his "stay trippy" album as my album.
Anyways quick summary, the production on their albums are always top notch, I just find them not really THAT interesting lyrically to keep my attention for a whole album.
I added a buncha songs off this to my big playlist, but can't say as a whole I love the entire album. My rating I feel is kinda low cause I do love a buncha songs on this but they're just not what I want to listen to for a whole album if that makes sense.

Alright so I randomized the current group and this is the order that people will pick an album for us all to listen too.
Gonna make it interesting and have everyone rate each album out of 10 and ill tally up an average score for each album.
If people don't like your album don't be offended, it's okay to defend the album but we won't need to turn the forum into a zebedee vs big monkey argument.
If and when Eminem drops we will take a break and come back to these at some point

Yeez - BLEEDING EDGE
First off I wanna say I appreciate how eclectic this tape is, I find equal merit in having a focused Playlist or one's that hop a bunch of genres, so having this and Wrecks tape back to back and having them both be quality is great.
Obviously used as just an into but I really liked Ready Let's Go and the transition into Another Way To Die was crazy. I'm a Jack White simp and Alicia Keys is usually good so I always liked this song. That going into Machine Gun and noticing the drums are similar is a crazy connection, I haven't listened to much Portishead but really enjoyed what I have heard and this is no different. Beth Gibbons da goat.
Atom, Positive Contact, and Devils Pie is probably the weakest run for me on the tape, I still like all the songs it's just the first two get a little long in the tooth for me and there's other D'Angelo songs I like more (R.I.P.) all still excellently performed!
Whip You With A Strap is depressing as all h--- but really good, one of my favorites. I never listened to much of The Strokes but New York City Cops is a fun one, need to give them more of a proper listen. Arctic Monkeys can be hit or miss depending on how deep you go in their discography (I'm still a defender of AM even if it's sounds like brits made music for a Ford truck commercial) but I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor is a great track, just really fun.
Idk how I never heard This Mess We're In but it's fantastic, always love Thom's voice and he fits so well with PJ. I straight up only know the Wilco song from the SpongeBob movie LMAO but Heavy Metal Drummer is a lot of fun, good groove. I'm not familiar with Vitalic but Poison Lips is an immediate Playlist for me, that song rips so hard it's crazy.
Bad News is when Kanye was good, equally depressing and nice to hear again lol. Every Justice song I've ever heard is great and D.A.N.C.E. is no different, goated song I will be listening to it on repeat. El Mañana is dope, appreciate going with a bit moodier of a Gorillaz track, it really fits on the sequencing.
And last but not least is Tragic Girl, love the drums on here, love when Rivers is going full sad boy incel mode. I adore Weezer and the fact that 3/4ths of their discog is bad makes them even better. Song is very very good and a great closer.
All in all a really well sequenced, super fun listen. I can see this round of mixtapes getting consistently very high scores from me cause of my bias to this decade of music and this tape is no different. Good s---!
Favorite Songs: Another Way To Die, Machine Gun, Whip You With A Strap, I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor, This Mess We're In, Poison Lips, D.A.N.C.E., Tragic Girl

Hey y'all. In traditional Yeez fashion, it took me a long time to figure out what songs to choose, the theme, the sequencing, etc. I decided to go for something a "bit" more relaxed this time around. I took some of the feedback from the past two tapes, and I came up with this
I present to you...
Bleeding Edge
1. Ready Let's Go - Boards of Canada
2. Another Way to Die - Jack White & Alicia Keys
3. Machine Gun - Portishead
4. Atom - Cannibal Ox
5. Positive Contact - Deltron 3030
6. Devil's Pie - D'Angelo
7. Whip You With A Strap - Ghostface Killah
8. New York City Cops - The Strokes
9. I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor - Arctic Monkeys
10. This Mess We're In (feat. Thom Yorke) - PJ Harvey
11. Heavy Metal Drummer - Wilco
12. Poison Lips - Vitalic
13. Bad News - Kanye West
14. D.A.N.C.E. - Justice
15. El Mañana - Gorillaz
16. Tragic Girl - Weezer (this one's a bit odd since it was mostly done in the 90's, but it was finished and released in 2010, so I hope it still counts)

Alright fellas, without further ado.
INTRODUCING:
Now at first "NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL JANKCORE" was going to be mostly the sound that's in the last leg of this record but as I was going into mid to late 2000s sounds I remember how much I truly love from this era of music and if I can find some sort of f----- up frankensteining to make this even slightly coherent. I can see some picks on here either really clicking with people or the exact opposite especially on the first half so I'm really interested to see what everyone thinks!
Tracklist:
Hikaru Utada - Sanctuary (Opening)
The Naked and Famous - Young Blood
Tegan and Sara - The Con
Florence + The Machine - Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)
Bloc Party - Helicopter
Red Hot Chili Peppers - On Mercury
The Mars Volta - Vermicide
Nine Inch Nails - The Hand That Feeds
Priestess - Lay Down
Flyleaf - I'm So Sick
Breaking Benjamin - Topless
Three Days Grace - Time Of Dying
Senses Fail - Can't Be Saved
Paramore - Feeling Sorry
Taking Back Sunday - MakeDamnSure
The Fall Of Troy - F.C.P.R.E.M.I.X.
There's so many songs I wanted to put on here but couldn't so I figured I'd just stick to a few genres. I could've made like 5 very different playlists with this prompt alone so it was equally sad and fun choosing what songs to pick!

Xxxtentacion - ?
Hated this guy at first but he grew on me a bit over the years. Its a very versatile project and he was very talented. Its not mind-blowing and I wouldn't call it a classic or anything, just a decent project. I could see how a depressed broccoli haired zoomer with daddy issues would vibe with this heavy though.

For the first time since NOVEMBER (wtf I can’t believe it’s been that long), here is DiggleDogg’s ALBUM pick for @AOTWClub !
If you follow the hip hop space, you probably know that this most recent week was the anniversary of an event in recent hip hop history that a lot of people remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when they heard the news, and that’s why I feel like it was the right time to finally select…
? - XXXTENTACION
? was the final project from XXXTENTACION before he was fatally shot and killed on June 18th, 2018, which was 7 years ago this previous Wednesday. I have been interested to see how this forum would feel about this album for awhile now, and now felt like the right time to bring this to the club. This album has helped me through a lot, and I love going back to it every now and then even if I don’t listen to it as much as I used to. A lot of good memories with this one, but also lots of bad memories that it has helped me through. I feel like there is at least something here for everybody, even if you don’t enjoy the project as a whole!
Can’t wait to see what yall think, and RIP ---!

I wanted to show some love some stuff i think had a chance of not being shown off in these playlists instead of the usual route i was originally going to go which was in the more pop punk and classic rock sounds. I figured it would be fun to do a mix between some soft synthier rock and pop of the time mixed with some more fun r&b and club cuts. I also took this as an opportunity to give love to the japanese city pop wave. I was too busy to work out some of the sequencing kinks i think there are, but i love these songs too much to take any off and I hope y'all enjoy nonetheless!

Hello folks, here’s my latest mixtape. It’s a mix of classic rock, prog, alt, traditional metal. I wanted to keep things a little more focused this round. Next time I’m switching gears to hip hop.
Everything here is pretty accessible, You might recognize a few bands right away, but for the most part I went with ones that aren’t overly mainstream. For a couple of them, I chose songs that I really like and aren’t what you would typically expect from them.
One band appears twice simply because I’ve been obsessed with their music lately. That said, the two songs are completely different from each other.
Anyway, hope you enjoy!
