Jpegmafia - All my Heroes are Cornballs

    8.5/10
fav tracks: Jesus forgive me, I am a thot, Kenan vs Kel, Beta male strategies,PTSD,PRONE!,Free the frail,Buttermilk jesus type beat

least fav track: life’s hard, here’s a song about sorrel

Maybe its just me but this is the peggy album that I’ve enjoyed the most. Thought he wouldn’t be able to keep up with the quality of VETERAN but the vibes on this one knocked even that album out the water for me.

The opening track goes insanely hard;just goes to show how innovative his production is. I feel like this is the album that helped jpeg solidify his sound and really exposed it to the public. I’d describe this album as the weirdest ear candy, though rough around the edges and abrasive at times, it also brings heaps of these melodic and catchy moments which keep you guessing on how he’ll approach the following tracks.

I think this album will keep aging extremely well, peggy’s kind of moved on from this softer sound in his latest works and that makes it that much more special imo.

Jpegmafia - All my Heroes are Cornballs

Favorite songs: All My Heroes are Cornballs, BBW, Free the Frail, Post Verified Freestyle, BascBitchTearGas, Grimy Waifu, Rap Grow Old and Die
    Skips: a lot sadly
    Thoughts:

On the first page of this album iirc someone compared it to Yeezus but even more experimental. I am not the biggest Yeezus fan, aside from a handful of songs. No surprise that this album is hit or miss for me too. I don't hate it as much as some people, there is some real creativity on here. But most of it, as people predicted, is not for everyone including me.
The songs I liked the most are (no surprise) the "safest" songs on here with the least, lets call it special effects. BBW is really catchy btw love that one. It was a fun ride, and some songs I'll revisit, but not the whole album. Thanks @Evad though, its nice to listen to music outside your usual comfort zone! 5/10

Standouts: "Kenan Vs. Kel", "Grimy Waifu", "Rap Grow Old & Die x No Child Left Behind", "All My Heroes Are Cornballs"

Skips: Post Verified Freestyle, BasicBitchTearGas, DOTS FREESTYLE REMIX, BUTTERMILK JESUS TYPE BEAT

    Score: 5/10

    Final Thoughts (Skit):
I really thought this was gonna be some out there unpleasant weird bs but it wasn't, I actually had a very good time with this s--- ngl, the production is very good and most of the experimental s--- is well executed imo, some nice variety of sounds and moods, the standouts I'll definitely go back to but the rest I can't say for now

Since we're postponing whatever album is scheduled to review when the Eminem album drops anyways, then yeah we might as well do it to keep things going

I'm not waiting to Sunday/Monday for my review of this. I just can't listen to it any more.

It's just noise. Abrasive, brash noise. And what's the deal with the constant conversations? It feels like a behind the scenes take on the creation of an album.

When he gets going there's some good flows and lyrics but I just can't get past the disjointed and confused production.

    Not for me.

    2/10.

Aye @Wreckless just saying, the Sabrina Carpenter album comes out before your week, could be a fun listen! Not until August though, but just a suggestion!

without giving away anything about the album, is this some deathgrips type of s---?

    J Hus - Conspiracy

    7/10.

I normally cringe at the sound of an English accent in hip-hop. It just doesn't sit right with me. I guess because it's closer to home so the fantasy of the music isn't there. This was an exception though. The first 2 tracks especially stuck out to me and set the tone of what I was hoping to hear.
I did feel like the album lost a bit of cohesiveness throughout the project but the start was so good it could almost be overlooked.

I didn't get to spend as much time with this as the previous album but that's just personal circumstances but I'll listen to this again in the future, that's for sure.

What I like about the idea of this thread is to listen to albums I wouldn't have chosen to. And this one was a good pick!

    J Hus: Big Conspiracy Review

Favorite: Big Conspiracy, Helicopter, Fight for Your Right, No Denying
Least favorite: Play Play, Cucumber, Fortune Teller

Album started off strong with those 2 first songs. Some of the Dance tracks mid way through brought the quality down for me. ''No Denying'' was a b-----r. Overall smooth listen and good production.

Saved for re-listen as there are still some songs i'm unsure if i wanna discard or keep.

    7.2

    J Hus: Big Conspiracy Review

Favorite Tracks: helicopter, fight for your right, deeper than rap , one and only

Least Favorite Tracks: Repeat, Fortune Teller

    Overall summary:

Wasnt sure what to expect, had no idea who "J Hus" was. Also had never listened to a full UK rap album. Right off the hop I enjoyed his sound on the first few tracks so was very intrigued to get through the album, also whoever "icee tgm" is sounds great on the choruses of the first few songs. I love the production throughout the album, lots of great beats.

Not all the songs are my cup of tea, but I do appreciate his flow and lyrics on all of them. I really don't like "repeat" itll be the only song I skip when I come back to this album in the future.

Overall I enjoyed this album especially the more i listened to it, great pick @hargydon. Was excited when you posted someone id never heard of before.

I feel like with my rankings I'm gonna be a bit tough, I gave "cilvia demo" a 7/10 and enjoyed it a bit more so I'm gonna give this a

    J Hus - Big Conspiracy

    RATING: 7/10

    FAVORITE SONG: Triumph
HONORABLE MENTIONS: Play Play, Reckless, No Denying, One and Only

THOUGHTS: I don’t have a ton to say but what I do have to say is good things. This album got me dancing like crazy. Triumph is a f---ing vibe. The album is a dope and easy listen to put on while gaming, working, exercising, driving, etc. When you do pay closer attention, there’s some interesting a--- lyrics. That whole second verse of Triumph gotta be one of the best on the album. I love this section:
