I just see anywhere in the 6’s as above average, since 5 is what I consider average, and it just kinda shocked me to see a 6.5 for the album considering a lot of people consider this album to be towards the realm of an 8-10. Wasn’t trying to come at ya, just makes it fun to see what score I can get out of you!

Brudda, the modern rating system for video games has led many to think that anything below an 8 is garbage.

In the realm of music and movies a score of 6.5 is solid. Movies that get an 8 or above are usually all time classics.

I don’t believe in giving out 10/10s even for my favorite albums. More often than not, there’s at least one song that falls flat. For example, I’d probably rate TES around a 9.7 even though it’s likely my number one album of all time.

Here's a breakdown according to ChatGPT.

Sure! Here’s a breakdown of music scores on a scale from 1 to 10:

    1 - Poor

Characteristics: Disorganized, lacks melody, and rhythm. Instruments may clash and vocals are off-key.
Impact: Unpleasant to listen to, often feels unfinished or careless.

    2 - Fair

Characteristics: Some semblance of structure but still heavily flawed. Few interesting moments, with major issues in execution.
Impact: Can be grating; may only appeal to very niche audiences.

    3 - Mediocre

Characteristics: Basic ideas present, but lacking depth. Simple melodies and predictable progressions.
Impact: Forgettable; not engaging enough to warrant repeated listening.

    4 - Decent

Characteristics: More cohesive than mediocre but still shows significant weaknesses in composition and performance.
Impact: Some enjoyable moments, but overall lacks polish.

    5 - Average

Characteristics: Competent but unremarkable. Standard song structures and familiar themes without unique twists.
Impact: Can be enjoyable in the background but doesn’t stand out.

    6 - Good

Characteristics: Solid craftsmanship with catchy hooks and competent instrumentation. A few standout moments or clever ideas.
Impact: Likely to be enjoyed by a wider audience, though may not be memorable in the long run.

    7 - Very Good

Characteristics: Strong melodies and well-executed arrangements. Displays creativity and emotional resonance.
Impact: Likely to be revisited; resonates well with listeners.

    8 - Excellent

Characteristics: High level of artistry, innovative concepts, and emotional depth. Great production quality and skilled performances.
Impact: Memorable and impactful; stands out in its genre.

    9 - Exceptional

Characteristics: Masterful composition and execution. Unique sound, profound lyrics, and emotional connection that transcends typical boundaries.
Impact: Leaves a lasting impression and can influence others; often considered a classic.

    10 - Masterpiece

Characteristics: A pinnacle of artistic achievement. Flawless integration of all elements—melody, harmony, rhythm, lyrics, and production.
Impact: Timeless quality; often cited as a benchmark in music history, inspiring generations.

I think 6.5 for an album I will never listen to again, not even for one song is a fair score. Don't make me hit you in the head with a participation trophy

Exactly, was much harder to get into than many other BMTH records. I just gave up because of how rough it sounded; had a ton of records I was listening to at the time so I forgot about that one rather quickly.

Not that I’m saying I need something mega polished from the band, it’s just that I felt like they went two steps back with that release in terms of how it sounded.

I’m not sure the forum is really into rock genres. It seems like the number of reviews has dropped since we started steering towards those metal genres lol.

I decided to switch it to another album. One that I truly love rather than just like. But i'm still sticking with the divorced dad theme. Enjoy
