aight that first part is your opinion and can't knock that. but i honestly don't know what you mean about taking itself to seriously. there's a ton of fun s--- on the album to me. the entire kunta track. talking about uncle sam. talking about taking over the govt. d-ck aint free. boo boo. wipe your a---. lucy (ricardo). hella jokes and s--- on there. as for delivery, i applaud kendrick for switching it up a ton in his music. what's an example of trying too hard on tpab?

I interpreted the tone completely differently, like everything had to be anti industry/establishment the whole time + the whole thing with Lucy (thought it meant Lucifer-Satan) just came across as too heavy to have long lasting replay value compared to FHD which had much lighter subject matters. For Free and Hood Politics even seemed to have an underlying challenge to consumeristic and hood cultures respectively, I just think not everything has to be so heavy, you can have a Wet Dreamz to counter a Love Yourz if you catch my drift

TPAB is an amazing album, it's just not as fun to listen to as I'd like

yeah sure I left out PER and true shooting which kawhi is killing him in. But its not hard to dig deeper into the stats I posted. Kawhi was putting up near identical stats while possessing and shooting the ball less. Which = playing better

I feel Ya. I find fun in s--- like rhyme schemes and deeper meanings. That Lucy=Lucifer s--- got me excited when I figured that out. That last verse on for free where he's rhyming every other word is fun to me

Trendy stuff like that comes and goes, @2014 Forever Lives JCN. I don't take things like that too seriously. Those types of rappers are a dime a dozen. From Trap Queen, Bobby Shmurda and the Shmoney Dance, Trinidad James...Soulja Boy had his 15 mins. Onto the next trend

ye for sure, usually the songs are actually good, or at least just very catchy to justify the popularity, but these two

i swear people just follow trends just because they are trends, not because they actually like them, that sheep mentality ...

BUT what i meant by my post is literally HOW do they get so high on billboard, like the technicality of it ... like how do songs like that get above pop hits u hear on the radio ... what goes in to the billboard 100 calculations ?

That can be said with critics too. They see a bunch of hype/praise or overall dislike of a project from other critics and blindly follow what their peers say.

iTunes single purchases go into the Billboard 100 calculations. Not sure if streaming counts or not?
