Y'all need to hear this in the context of the interview by the way and I'm just paraphrasing cause I don't remember where in the interview it was.

Steve stoute: What's your place in the game? Like I know where kendrick is? I know where Drake is? But what about you?

J. Cole: I don't care. I don't really give a f---.



I'm learning that now. What other people think about you or your success should never be more important than how you feel yourself, and their views of you should never dicatate your happiness.

and even tho it is hard sometimes (to not care what people think), and I'm sure even cole realizes that (cause it probably still bugs him that critics aint eating his s--- up/he aint getting all the respect he deserves) ... it will benefit u in life and for ur happiness to try as much as possible to "not give a f---" ...

i think at this point u can deduct what this is meant to mean, if u haven't already noticed it in the song for urself ...

he doesn't care to "tell" anybody about his success anymore or even care what people think of him, or if they say he can't go home ...

pretty much exactly what @Kold was talking about - he doesn't care what people think about his success

n thats whats so dope about a lot of this album is the transitions from the first verses to the second in a lot of songs (03, 2 cities, gomd, role modelz, apparently)

Nothing wrong with feeling some type of way, it's just the way Drake talked about it made him seem so salty interviews. It just wasn't a good look. Even after he saw kendrick and it was all good he was still catching feels. Lmao.

Just to speak on the Control thing a bit....

I think that Kenny and Cole are the only ones that pay each other real respect. they both address each other with their first names.

I've seen Cole in concert 3 times.

Once after FNL dropped.
Once after CWTSS
and once on a taping.

I dont think I will pay to see him again.

Nah...I don't think so. Cole would have handled it better. That's why Cole called him on the phone and spoke about it privately instead of saying something stupid in public. Cole would have stil handled the situation better imo.

I don't have an exact link but the Angie Martinez and Elliott Wilson CRWN interviews he talked about it. What he was actually saying actually had some truth to it he just seemed really bitter about it. Came off as being really salty.

I really think the post FHD era is going to define how special this era was. The whole process of how he announced/released the album, to(hopefully) post FHD promotion to maximize its potential. I think it has a legitimate chance at going down as a classic album down the line.

Well new Cole wouldn't care tbh. He hasn't been politically correct in any of his interviews just being very honest and I don't think he's scared to say anything edgy as evidenced by Fire Squad.

When you really respect someone the way they do, you call them to clear the air before talking negatively about them in public. Again I don't even disagree with a lot of what Drake said he just seemed furious in a lowkey type of way. And maybe he should be a little more politically correct in the future because we know what Hov did when he ran his mouth...
