Oct 18, 2015 Okay, after years and years of waiting for Half life 3 and with valve being so silent on it, do you guys think it is even worth waiting on anymore?
Oct 18, 2015 Eh. I honestly don't think they'll ever release it. There's no way it'd ever live up to the hype no matter how good it was. It'd be like Mass Effect 3 all over again
Oct 18, 2015 Whoooaaaaa hol up guys. Source 2.0 is out. Which isn't a clear indicator it's coming, but Half life 1/2 if i remember correctly were like pioneer games for Source 1. Since source 2 has only been applied to Dota 2 so far, really makes me feel like they're gearing up for a big release in the near future.

Oct 18, 2015 That's how I feel too. They wouldn't release Source 2.0 JUST for DotA2's client (which at the moment is extremely buggy and may as well be considered a beta-tier game). Not only that but they've been saying how revolutionary Source 2.0 is, when all it has done is made DotA2 look mildly nicer, at the cost of having an extra 10 trillion bugs.
Oct 18, 2015 Well if Dre can release Compton instead of Detox, I'm fairly certain that Valve can release their own alternative to Half-Life 3. Inb4 Ricochet 2.
Oct 19, 2015 I don't agree entirely with what you said. On one hand you're absolute right, HL3 will never live up to the hype if it's released. On the other hand, the only thing that s----d about mass effect 3 was the botched ending. That game was GOAT up until the last hour. It literally met and exceeded all my expectations except for the end. ME3 was by no means an all around disappointment.
Oct 19, 2015 I wasn't saying that it was a terrible game, reading it over that's what it sounds like, but what I meant is that creating a sequel to an almost universally loved series (mass effect) and doing something wrong could end up like ME3 and they'd end up losing the fans and good will they've built up. Basically, in releasing HL3 Valve has everything to lose and nothing to gain. They're not exactly hurting for money due to their other IPs and Steam so they don't really need the money from the game
Oct 19, 2015 It's sad but that's really what it has turned into, Half life used to be a huge deal too, now it has fallen into meme territory.

Oct 23, 2015 Yeah the last ten minutes is more accurate. Those ten minutes made me hate the hundred plus hours I had played throughout the franchise. Some of those choices I agonized over for nothing.
