    yeah i honestly think -- no offense -- ur take is a tad glib. like, shouldn't your pov be chance is embodying the triumph of the african american experience or something? he's tapping into a long history of joyful gospel. you write about how it needs to be counter balanced -- but it is, implicitly. if anything, the real slight against chance is that kayne already did this - and better - on college dropout. (family business, the walk with me sample in jesus walks)

    can't divorce this context of the album from (so says the white guy in boston) the "black experience" anymore than you would a rapper from compton commenting on widespread poverty and violence.

    For me the religious parts never rly dragged on, except maybe How Great.
