Dec 27, 2015 They're pretty important, they filter blood to produce urine. & you need that blood filtered. Downsides are risk of high blood pressure, & higher risk of Kidney failure, due to one kidney doing double the work. If the one & only kidney fails, then you're sorta screwed. There's probably other disadvantages, but idk what they are. Nevertheless, you can still live with one & be fine. You just gotta take a few pills regularly (NSAIDS).
