ima use the first two songs i could think of

You know what the Midwest is? Young and restless
Where restless n----s might snatch your necklace
And next these n----s might jack your Lexus
Somebody tell these n----s who Kanye West is
I walk through the valley of the Chi where death is
Top floor the view alone will leave you breathless *gasps*
Try to catch it *gasps* it's kinda hard
Getting choked by detectives, yeah, yeah, now check the method
They be askin' us questions, harass and arrest us
Sayin' "We eat pieces of s--- like you for breakfast"
Huh? Y'all eat pieces of s---? What's the basis?
We ain't going nowhere but got suits and cases
A trunk full of coke, rental car from Avis
My mama used to say only Jesus can save us
Well mama I know I act a fool
But I'll be gone 'til November, I got packs to move
To the hustlers, killers, murderers, d--- dealers, even the skrippers
To the victims of welfare for we livin' in h--- here, h--- yeah
Now, hear ye, hear ye, want to see Thee more clearly
I know he hear me when my feet get weary
Cause we're the almost nearly extinct
We rappers is role models: we rap, we don't think
I ain't here to argue about his facial features
Or here to convert atheists into believers
I'm just tryna say the way school need teachers
The way Kathie Lee needed Regis, that's the way I need Jesus
So here go my single dog, radio needs this
They say you can rap about anything except for Jesus
That means guns, sex, lies, videotape
But if I talk about God my record won't get played, huh?
Well if this take away from my spins
Which'll probably take away from my ends
Then I hope this take away from my sins
And bring the day that I'm dreamin' about
Next time I'm in the club, everybody screamin' out

    vs

I'm supposed to be the soldier, who never blows his composure
Even though I hold the weight of the whole world on my shoulders
I ain't never supposed to show it, my crew ain't supposed to know it
Even if it means going toe to toe with a Benzino
It don't matter I'd never drag them in battles that I can handle
'less I absolutely have to, I'm supposed to set an example
I need to be the leader, my crew looks for me to guide 'em
If some s--- ever does pop off, I'm supposed to be beside 'em
That Ja s---, I tried to squash it, it was too late to stop it
There's a certain line you just don't cross and he crossed it
I heard him say Hailie's name on a song and I just lost it
It was crazy, the s--- went way beyond some Jay-Z and Nas s---
And even though the battle is won I feel like we lost it
I spent so much energy on it, honestly I'm exhausted
And I'm so caught in it,I almost feel I'm the one who caused it
This ain't what I'm in hip hop for, it's not why I got in it
That was never my object, for someone to get killed
Why would I want to destroy something I helped build?
It wasn't my intentions, my intentions were good
I went through my whole career without ever mentioning [Suge]
And that was just outta respect, for not running my mouth
And talking about something that I knew nothing about
Plus Dre told me stay out, this just wasn't my beef
So I did, I just fell back, watched and gritted my teeth
While he's all over TV, down talking the man
Who literally saved my life, like f--- it I understand
This is business, and this s--- just isn't none of my business
I'm still knowing this s--- could pop off at any minute, because
There used to be a time when, you could just say a rhyme and
Wouldn't have to worry about one of your people dying
But now it's elevated, causeonce you put someone's kids in it
The s--- gets escalated, it ain't just words no more is it?
It's a different ball game, you call names and you ain't just rapping
We actually tried to stop the 50 and Ja beef from happening
Me and Dre had sat with him, kicked it and had a chat with him
And asked him not to start it, he wasn't going to go after him
Until Ja started yapping in magazines how he stabbed him
f--- it, 50 smash him, mash him and let him have it
Meanwhile my attention's pulled in another direction
Some receptionist at the Source who answers phones at his desk
Has an erection for me and thinks that I'll be his resurrection
Tries to blow the dust off his mic and make a new record
But now he's f----- the game up, cause one of the ways I came up
Was through that publication, the same one that made me famous
Now the owner of it has got a grudge against me for nothing?
Well f--- it, that mothafucka could get it too, f--- him then
But I'm so busy being pissed off, I don't stop to think
That we just inherited 50's beef with Murder Inc
And he's inherited mine, which is fine, ain't like either of us mind
We still have soldiers that's on the front line
That's willing to die for us as soon as we give the orders
Never to extort us, strictly to show they support us
And maybe shout 'em out in a rap or up in the chorus
To show 'em we love 'em back and let them know how important it is
To have Runyon Avenue soldiers up in our corners
Their loyalty to us is worth more than any award is
But I ain't tryna have none of my people hurt or murdered
It ain't worth it, I can't think of a perfecter way to word it
Than to just say that I love y'all too much to see the verdict
I'll walk away from it all 'fore I let it go any further
But don't get it twisted, it's not a plea that I'm copping
I'm just willing to be the bigger man if y'all can quit popping
Off at your jaws well then I can, cause frankly I'm sick of talking
I'm not going to let someone else's coffin rest on my conscience cause

    no f---ing contest

college dropout, easily kanye's most relatable album (a fact that was I am sure very carefully calculated by his camp), is not even on the same level em was on in 2004, let alone 2000 and forget competing with where he's at now

go to rapgenius or whatever site you want and find bars you think compete with the complex rhyming, beat riding, storytelling, structuring and multiple metaphor in even a track such as like toy soldiers. here's just the first line:
"I'm supposed to be the soldier who never blows his composure even though I hold the weight of the whole world on my shoulders."
that line alone is a metaphor for half a dozen different things

just look at the rhymefest bars kanye (or more likely one of his producers or engineers) chose to open jw with:
"you know what the midwest is, young and restless, where restless n----s might snatch your necklace and next these n----s might jack your lexus"
    now, wtf
not ONE metaphor, or even a three syllable rhyme in sight

go jerk off to kim kardashian again lel

like toy soldiers on the other hand is a masterpiece containing incredible lyricism, never before heard revelations and a goat hook. and his flow with that memorized beat can only be described as surreal

    :work:

Yo csw. You are completely right. Lyrically, Eminem blows Kanye out of the water. With the exception of like 4 of Ye's songs, it's not even a fair fight

But Kanye fans aren't all about the lyrical acrobatics, in the same way Eminem fans aren't all about the most godly production ever.

I think that's the key difference between an Em fan and a Ye fan and that's why guy's like you and me always end up arguing.

Also @csw621 if you're referring to Eminems discussion on how rap beefs can lead to death on "like toy soldiers" as the never before heard revelations, dudes have said that before plenty mang. Black Star comes to mind at first, but yeh.

It's little things like that that get people riled up at you. Because you'll make a mostly valid argument "Eminem lyrics>Kanye lyrics" but then have things like "never before heard revelations" as if eminems bars were like world-shattering discoveries akin to Galileo saying the solar system is heliocentric.

I'm js imagine a discussion on Travi$ Scott and I was like "Listen to the way he manipulates the guitar on Mamacita, that's never been done before. The entire trap element of Days Before Rodeo (his newest mix tape) has single-handedly advanced the subgenre by light years.". It's that combination of legitimate praise and high-key stanning that pisses people off because then you're entire argument is undermined by too much love for the artist in question

bro i meant revelations and information about eminem himself. if you want something groundbreaking about losing someone or love or health awareness listen to difficult or die alone or drips

and re the other post if kanye's intent is to disguise generic, just passable as his own writing with a hot beat and a catchy hook i guess i probablty shouldn't tell you i think eminem is a better producer too

look, rappers like kanye west and meek mill. they don't care about rap. they don't care about making people happy with music. they care about themselves. they care about money. they care about their image.

Alls I ever did was just say the s--- I would've wanted to hear other people say to me when I was a kid

do you think kanye gives a f--- how many people he helps when he's going in for ray j's sloppy seconds?
