Jun 16, 2015as some of you may or may not know, i have been smoking weed for a long time
i've been an everyday blazer for about 7-8 years or so
the longest I have went without smoking was a period of 8 months..
i was very proud of myself but regardless, I started smoking again
i wish to use this thread as a daily log to keep track of how long it's been..
i intend to stay sober and i feel this log will help me
so far it's been 2 days of no smoking and i already feel more alert

other small factors like having the munchies and generally "being lazy" are easily fixed but the biggest thing is i want to think freely again.. the time period when i wasn't smoking for 8 months was a "wake up" moment for me.. my mind really felt like it was breathing again.. i don't know how else to say it.. i started having dreams again n s--- and was generally a happier person.. not that I'm not already happy, but it was a different feeling
there is nothing wrong with smoking weed but i personally know the effects it's had on me (not negative effects, just effects) and as I'm getting older, i need to focus on other more important things rather than smoking a bowl before i go to sleep. it sounds dumb when i type it out like this but honestly weed has always been a "release" of sorts but really, it's holding me back
everyone is different and i've always said "theres no reason to quit" because it really is a great thing.. weed is amazing and i find the concept of not smoking difficult to grasp.. but I'm 22 and have my entire life ahead of me to smoke if i want, right now i need to buckle down and smoking weed as heavily as i have is simply put, stunting my potential
there are plenty of people that smoke just as much as me and are able to "achieve" whatever it is they wish to achieve.. I'm not knocking them, but like i said, I'm getting older and I'm starting to really think about my future, thats all
i know ill end up smoking again at some point, because i love it so much... but right now I'm done.. it will be good for me
it might not be hard to quit for some people… but for me, it is because of how large a factor it has played into my life.. I'm talking i've smoked EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR YEARS, EVERY DAY, it's just as essential as eating or going to the bathroom.. it was a key part of my everyday life… i toned it down a ton and started only smoking at night, but when i wake up i still have that empty head feeling and its gotta stop(This ad goes away when signing up) -

@Final I really appreciate your post because there are so many stoners who won't admit that smoking weed can have a negative effect on their life in any way. Clearly it's not gonna ruin your entire life like heroin or m---, but that doesn't mean it won't hinder you if you frequently choose to smoke over doing something productive. And as you said, some people can go about their lives stoned just as well as they can sober, so props to them, but not everyone can do that.
I'm a fairly frequent night smoker, but whenever I quit for a bit I realize how foggy I felt waking up in the morning.Pablo, Sign Language, Jordan and 5 others like this. -

Used to be a heavy smoker for a few years also. Smoked daily from the age of 15 to 20. I was in the same boat and was tired of this "foggy mind" feeling from smoking to much. I reduced my smoking to only once a day, only before sleep. Did that for a long time before i stopped completely.
The funny part about that is when I stopped smoking it wasn't even expected, it just happened naturaly because of a lifestyle change. I had moved out pretty far away, lost my contacts, didn't keep in touch with my old friends...So the transition was pretty smooth since I was in a whole new environment once of a sudden. Didn't even feel the need to find new contacts and was able to sleep without even thinking about it. Still suprised how easy it was.
Never ever thought I would be able to quit like that when i was a regular smoker, but it just happened. From one day to the other as if I had never smoked.. Started drinking heavily shortly after that, but that's another story. Managed to control that a while ago too.
It's really tough if your friends are smokers and all you do when you see each other is smoke. Took me a while to realise the only thing i had in common with those friends was smoke and do other drugs. After that you still have to kick the habit of smoking on your own or before you sleep. Sometimes what you need is a change of environment. Been about 3 years now. Smoked maybe 4,5 times since then.
TLDR . Don't do drugs, stay in school.Radeem, FlawlessT, Ordinary Joel and 3 others like this. -
