Dec 12, 2025 No sorry I don't agree at all. no shape or form is Em trying to do Criminal or be closed to that. Underground is its own thing, sick, twisted sense of humour. I got boys that don't mess with Eminem and some that don't mess with rap but put on Underground with mint speakers, high bass and that s--- is pumping.
Dec 12, 2025 Sick and twisted, or just goofy? Gave Hannibal Lector a f---in' nectarine And sat him in the f---in' fruit and vegetable section And gave him a lecture Walked up Elm Street with a f---in' Wiffle bat drew Fought Freddy Krueger and Edward Scissorhands too And came out with a little scratch, ooh To be consistent with my previous comments on Relapse I think I would have to extend the same charity to Eminem in this song and assume that at least on some level he's aware that he'd become a caricature of himself, despite the more aggressive vocal delivery. He knew he couldn't be the guy in If I Get Locked Up anymore and that this cartoony version of Slim Shady lecturing and getting into fights with slasher villains is something he would never write about in his prime. But it's just the best he could do as a self-hating wigger approaching 40's door.
Dec 12, 2025 Eminem has been goofy since day dat so that one gets expelled from the bat. He didnt know and hasnt known what to write about now for decades and Relapse can be seen as his last hurrah.
Dec 12, 2025 And by what logic is what he said about Rihanna in unreleased songs deserving of an apology, while no one else got one? Where is the apology to Pussycat Dolls? Madonna? Portia? Family of Jon Bennet Rames? Dakota Fanning? Or if some rapper were to say "I'll k--- you over snooker like Proof" how would Eminem react?
Dec 12, 2025 Snooker lol. Also, JonBenet was literally killed by her own family. Specifically her own mother. She was also highly likely being sexually abused by her father or someone close to her father before her death. If anything they should be apologising to us for being slimey, lying conniving murderers.
Dec 12, 2025 He's a p----. Always has been. Only disses pop stars, go reply to Game and give the fans some entertainment for once. The man makes his best music under pressure or the rare chance he gets into rap beef with a rapper.
Dec 12, 2025 In the SSLP and MMLP days behind the silliness was a very real air of menace though, as well as wit. Relapse was menacing and at times witty, but in a comic book kind of way that rarely pierced through its own fictional world into the real world the way MMLP did. It's similar to the difference between a Jason or a Freddy movie and something like Saw or maybe a thriller like Joker, at least in the sense that the first pair can be compelling within their own worlds while the second are getting at some uncomfortable truths about society. The Columbine line in I'm Back is a perfect example of a moment that has no parallel in Relapse. (This is a point additional to the fact he was simply wittier and funnier in his youth.)
Dec 12, 2025 This is the thing that gets me. We say “his youth” but he was almost 30 years old during TES. And his wit was still top notch throughout that album, which even trickled through to Encore in drops. What makes a grown a--- man suddenly lose everything he once was like that? I can name a whole lot of old a--- men who are still as witty now as they ever was in their 20s. Ringo Starr, Noel Gallagher, all the classic comedians. Even 50 Cent. It baffles me how Marshall Mathers is such a weird, special case.
Dec 12, 2025 I guess he was never truly comfortable in his own skin: I'd take that bleach blonde, wannabe 2Pac, little fake wigger, f---- .... The motherfuckin' handkerchiefs, and them stupid a--- fingerless gloves When I was him, I couldn't stand him, I've always hated his guts You wouldn't know it from listening to I'm Back, Marshall Mathers, Everybody's Looking at Me ... but the wigger persona, his source of confidence, had a definite expiry date. He knew he wouldn't be able to keep it up throughout his 30s. He even called 30 year old Everlast "old" so his sudden, sharp decline starting with Encore should have been predictable, in hindsight.
Dec 12, 2025 Yeah I get what you're saying but sometimes you gotta just accept things the way they are. Relapse has excellent production every beat is good, complete bangers. He's flowing like a god, like the accent or not, it's a return to form for Eminem. Rap had changed so much from 05 to 09 that fans didn't really know how to take Relapse. They went a long with the crowd and panned it only for people to rerate it as a great project. Are you going to relate to it? no probably not.
