Nov 26, 2025 I was under the impression for many years that “The Kids” was one of those songs post-SSLP but pre-MMLP, sort of from the “original MMLP” batch of songs. But Jeff Bass said in an interview that The Kids was specifically made for the “cleaner” version of MMLP that didn’t have Kim on the tracklist, to replace it. Which implies it was actually made during the later stages of MMLP, maybe one of the last songs recorded. What do you think?

Nov 26, 2025 Eminem verse on The Re-Up song is underrated. Probably one of the few verses and songs he was sober for the recording around that era, so probably why.
Nov 26, 2025 That makes sense considering how developed his delivery is here. Compare with his vocals in the We Takin Over / Light Speed freestyle, which I assume was recorded by the time MMLP was basically finished. Very similar. Also the Southern impression in Criminal is vocally very close to The Kids hook, obviously because of the accent but they sound like they were recorded very close to each other: The more mellow/fun songs can still feel a lot like SSLP era. I'm pretty sure Off the Wall was post MMLP and yet it almost sounds like it could be from the transitional period you're talking about.
