    Which artist is more commercially successful is easy to quantify, you can hit up the Wikipedia page for either artist and see which one has had the most chart success, it’s the competitive nature of “my music bangs harder than yours” that makes it interesting

    It’s also strategic because it’s not who has the most hits out of 20 songs, It’s one song versus another song for 20 rounds. Like, I’m pretty sure Nelly has more hits than Ludacris, but Luda played the game perfectly when they battled on Saturday, so I think he won.

    have you watched any of these battles? it's not "HEY GUYS THE CRITERIA IS CLUB MUSIC" but it functions in something like a similar fashion, esp. for the battles between rappers -- as opposed to, like, premier vs. rza, where there was a little more appetite for album cuts, but even then the songs with more energy usually win. it's a social thing! who tf is listening to eminem in front of other human beings
