Apr 23, 2024 I definitely think this is a big part of it. He's still in denial about Revival to this day. And from his perspective, I get it, he touched on very sensitive personal topics on that album and made himself vulnerable. But musically he also fell into his worst habits more than ever before to an unbearable point. From the horrible punchlines to the awful production, if he had stop giving a s--- about pleasing the public and just did what he wanted to instead of doubling down on what got him sales but also critically condemned, it could've been a decent album. Even to this day he seemingly can't help himself but putting at least one s-----y pop song on an album for sales. (Those Kinda Nights). And I'd still consider Side A his best album since 2009, with MMLP2 and Relapse close behind.
Apr 23, 2024 Completely agree with what you've said. That's the order I want, and they should, do it in this time too. A month before the album, release title and cover; 2 weeks until it's released have a single and tracklist (even cover up the features if they want and slowly release those to count down the days or something). Maybe even release another song from it (not a single, just a release) the Wednesday then album out Friday. All my original post was saying was that people would be moaning either way. People, myself included, were complaining that we don't hear anything from his camp and what he does. Dre came out and said an album is coming this year. Some think that's the beginning of the roll-out, others don't think it is. I personally don't think it's the "official" beginning, but they're clearly getting us prepared for an album as they're probably sick of people constantly asking. Unfortunately, we're all getting impatient as we've been waiting so long for it and just want it now. Hopefully it's worth the wait.
Apr 23, 2024 It would be f---ing awesome! We could count down and celebrate together. Who the f--- have problem waiting for a movie? No one, as we always know the release date.
Apr 23, 2024 Paul and Ems team have until May 31st to give us a piece of info! If we don't have any indication of when its coming by then, I'm out!
Apr 23, 2024 They sorta shot themselves in the foot with the surprise drop thing too. Doing it once is great as it's something new and exciting but if you make a habit of it (MTBMB / Side B ) then fans have no idea what's going on and constantly message asking for new albums as they don't know when the next one is coming
Apr 23, 2024 I agree. It was perfect for Kamikaze but he should've done some kind of rollout for MTBMB. It doesn't even have to be months long which in this day and age is pretty stupid, just a few weeks or something would be perfectly fine.
Apr 23, 2024 MTBMB was bizarre. There was no rollout and nothing was really done in the aftermath either. There was the Godzilla music video but nothing really after (lyrics videos but who gives a s--- about those nowadays). Maybe it was the time of year it was released (Christmas) but that was a weird album, promo-wise.
Apr 23, 2024 Nah he dropped Side A wit Darkness same time if you remember. No doubt influenced by KDot doing that wit Humble/d---. That was a great drop, as Darkness epitomizes the title too. Good stuff.
Apr 23, 2024 Ahh yes, of course my bad. Forgot about it, that's how long ago it was lol. Yeah Darkness was dope and impactful, had people talking! Hope he has something similar on the new album!
Apr 23, 2024 Absolutely! If we don't have a date for the album by May 31st then they have failed. It doesn't have to come out by then, but there should be a clear indication of when its coming. That will be over 70+ days since Dre listened to it in full.
Apr 23, 2024 It definitely got the hip-hop community talking, but it's still sitting only at 63 million views on YouTube. It's pretty tragic considering it's one of his best singles, let alone songs, in a long time.
Apr 23, 2024 I say we riot and go round to Em's mansion with pitchforks and the threat of playing Benzino's diss track.
Apr 23, 2024 It's, unfortunately, not got much replay value to it. Has the shock value the first time round, you'd listen to it a few more times after that but then it sorta fell to the wayside as I listened to other, catchier, tracks from the album. That's what I think anyway. Still revisit it from time to time
