Mar 31, 2024 Agreed with most of the stuff here but Drake's jibes at Budden in Diplomatic Immunity were not terrible at all. In fact, they're pretty solid albeit brief. IYRTITL, pretentious or not, is a d--- good project and sadly, his last one at that.
Mar 31, 2024 I stopped telling people in my life about my problems months and months ago. I realized the people who said they care don’t really care. A lot of my family aren’t really family, a lot of my friends aren’t really friends. When people ask me how I’m doing, I say I’m fine. In fact, I’m better at masking than ever before. I don’t mention any of my emotions or problems. I can’t tell if it’s made me stronger or colder, but I do know it’s made me love myself more. I’ve always known that I’m all that I got, but it truly set in recently. That’s what really motivated me to better my mental health and take better care of myself. I’m even beginning to have healthier outlets for my problems so it’s not even so bad that I don’t talk to people about them. Lately problems have been stacking up as if they’re attacking me all at once, but now I go through them without breaking a sweat whereas before I would have a breakdown.
Mar 31, 2024 I liked IYRTITL but it is out of character which I guess makes sense with the reference tracks. He can act tough in his raps but it’s obvious he’s affected by his emotions more than any other rapper I’ve ever seen lol so this persona he’s playing since IYRTITL is bound to rub people the wrong way & as a result has put Drake in an untenable position where he’s in a pool surrounded by sharks. On Diplomatic Immunity he was talking about “cover my ears” whilst reacting to every diss or shot sent his way & dropping subliminals his whole career whether in his music or on his social media accounts, even doing it with Budden almost a decade later whilst claiming he’s paying no mind! So it’s inauthentic. They’re simple bars, which is fine, if they’re meaningful, which it’s clear that they’re not.
