Jan 18, 2024 100%. That’s why I can’t get into artists who are constantly dropping music every few weeks or whatever. It doesn’t give people enough time to live with the music, to make memories with the music, to truly connect with the music. It cultivates a cycle where the music goes in one ear and out the other and is forgotten about a week after as they wait for the new music. It’s fast food music. Then again artists who usually release music like this don’t really have music worth remembering anyway.
Jan 18, 2024 There really is a struggle between over-consumption due to access to streaming & treating music like a one & done product. It’s a tough balancing act in this era. People should learn to appreciate music that takes years to create more than anticipating more instantly but that’s the byproduct of accessibility. Back when people paid for a record they had a direct connection to it & were forced to live with it & build an emotional attachment to it, both forms have their pros & cons. I do think if Eminem did a rollout it would establish a connection to the product more akin to the days prior to streaming & would maybe in turn slow down people’s obsession with a constant stream of music (that ends up being diluted anyway).
