Dec 12, 2023 Gibbs is great. He always has a stuffy nose, but that’s my only small criticism. Super consistent rapper, something we’re not used to here lmao
Dec 12, 2023 Hot take: Black Magic is a good song with the potential of being extremely great. The busy instrumental with the dancing synths while he gives this dead pan delivery of “wipe the blood off of my butterfly knife, watch her f---in die right of in front of my eyes” is almost bone chilling and what we all wanted thematically from a series called “music to be murdered by”. The issue is he sprinkles in lines like “I won’t stand for that s--- like cap for the national anthem” “unlikely pair, like two different Nike airs”. “Wake up like maybelline”. And it just takes you out of the concept. I still like it, but the potential on that song is crazy high for me. I’m a know nothing internet nerd, but if I was on his team, I would’ve suggested stripping back the instrumental until the last verse where it’s all brought in, to really make it stand out. Take away those corny lines (replace them with more thematic points). And that’s really it, then it’s perfect. Top 2 song on MTBMB side B.
