Jan 26, 2023 Nah I ain’t been paying attention to that. I didn’t even know they were releasing an album tonight. I knew about the Unholy song but haven’t bothered listening because I don’t care about Sam Smith. Aside from a few songs it’s generic pop from a bygone era like Charlie Puth and whatever else should’ve died in 2015
Jan 26, 2023 I have people in my life who go by they/them. I don’t really mind it so I just refer to them the way they want. Side note but I really hope pop stops doing the 80s sound soon. The Weeknd does it better than all the imitators but I think even he should stop it after his next album completes his trilogy. It’s been going on way too long now, and I say this as someone who likes the 80s pop sound
Jan 26, 2023 Haven't really heard any new Sam Smith tracks in a long a--- time, I might unironically check it out depending on if it's received well lol. I think they have a great voice but a lot of it blends together, the only person who has repetitive slow sad pop music that I'll give a pass to is Adele because she has the voice of God.
Jan 26, 2023 80s nostalgia pop starts and ends at Dua Lipa, The Weeknd, and Paramore. They've all made front to back b-----r albums that actually tried (especially Weeknd and Paramore for having varying degrees of concept albums) instead of just putting synths and calling it a hit. They already ruined pop punk besides some lesser known bands so now we need the 90s grunge revival that's extremely dogshit compared to actual music from that time.
Jan 26, 2023 True, I forgot to mention Dua Lipa and Paramore. When you said, “just putting synths and calling it a hint” that Stay song by The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber immediately came to mind. Tory Lanez also tried to do an 80s album lmao. Yeah MGK has brought forth a whole new group of people doing s-----y pop punk music meanwhile their lifestyles are the opposite of “punk”. I think the way the mainstream music industry is gonna go is much like the mainstream movie industry and the mainstream video game industry: recycling the old s--- instead of making new s---. They’re gonna keep cycling through old music styles from past decades while the underground will be the only source innovating… and the only time the mainstream will hear that innovation is when the mainstream artists steal the underground sound again or one of the underground artists gets lucky and blows up
Jan 26, 2023 She's good too, a decent chunk of her music tries a little hard to be bond themes but Born To Die and NFR are great albums.
Jan 26, 2023 It’s catchy, funny and good storytelling. He also have the same rhymescheme for about 2/3 of the song
Jan 26, 2023 I don’t think I’ve ever heard it. Shawn Mendes is just another one of those generic pop singers for me. He has bops here and there though. I’m sure what you’re talking about is a good song
