Jun 11, 2022 This post may be getting at something controversial, but also kinda true. I would add that Eminem sounds at least as embarrassing when he sounds "too black" (eg Welcome to D-Block). White rappers walk a fine line that imo only Eminem was able to walk with such finesse: be white in a genre created and dominated by black people and not sound too white (and therefore out of place), and also not too wiggery (and therefore inauthentic). This of course is only possible because it's socially acceptable and even encouraged these days for white people to emulate black people to some limited degree (typically in their attire, music tastes, and mannerisms).
