Dec 23, 2020 Umm, only problem is Nate Dogg is dead... Hope not. It's getting attention because it's the first song on the album and Sky constantly promotes it. It has a potential to be something close to Till I Collapse but Zeus is already getting the most attention right after GNAT. I think they shouldn't go against the numbers with this. Better just do as the numbes suggest. Well, almost every song jumped at me anyway. Those beats just make you appreciate the songs without even actually listenin to what Em says on the songs.
Dec 23, 2020 It’s just his delivery and how it’s mixed. He’s being super chill... probably doing some stuff in the mix to make his vocals pop over the beat.
Dec 23, 2020 Zeus needs to be the next MV. Plus, the faster he releases the video, the better it will be for the album.
Dec 23, 2020 At this point, can critics f---ing stfu and stop targeting him for "lack of structure/cohesion in sounds/subject" "His raps about critics and women" na basically every little thing? Not a dickrider, but they must imagine themselves in his shoes. -20 years into his career. -A guy who is still a battle rapper at heart and loves giving it back in some way or the other. -Nothing to prove or not enough turbulence, anger & controversy in his life to fuel his raps. -Has one of the most diverse fanbases ever. Some want that good ol' Slim Shady of Early 2000s, some want some TES type material, some want some horrorcore/Relapse style material, some want him to go after modern rappers, some want him to experiment and do trap/boom bap/experimental/lo-fi rap & lastly are some fangirls who want their dosage of Recovery style love songs, introspection. He is trying to make art for them all to the best of his abilities. People listen to Freddie Gibbs and Griselda for their grimey street & coke raps. People listen to Drake for his catchy & sometimes, introspective material. People listen to Lil Uzi Vert, Future, Travis etc. for catchy trap bangers they make. And here is this guy dealing with 100s of demands every time he heads inside his studio for an album. A burden that aforementioned emcees barely face. There's ppl listening to Eminem for various reasons. Cut this guy some f---ing slack ffs and let him rap & have fun. I'll still feel blessed if he keeps putting these "messy" albums if he gives his absolute 110% in production and rapping. And this all is coming from a guy who personally wants Eminem to experiment and venture out out of his usual styles as much as possible.
Dec 23, 2020 100k was trash back then, MMLP2 sold 700k first week 4 years later for example. But we have to take into account that only physicals were counted back then. Now we have streams as well. And streaming a 16 track album should offer some kind of upper hand.
Dec 23, 2020 I just figured out that the wound on Em's head in Gnat MV is the one from Mike's punch in Godzilla...
Dec 23, 2020 Ironically you're close. Its tube saturation. It's a form of harmonic distortion you get from mics (which he does use a tube mic, the sony c800 G) types of pre amps (avalon, manley)some compressors, and consoles (like the SSL) saturation has been making a comeback in music lately and I love it. Hes been incorporating it more in his mixes lately.
Dec 23, 2020 You didn’t even have to go to MMLP2 because remember months later recovery came out, and sold 700k+ too Don’t you have to stream the whole entire album for it to count as a sale? If that’s the case you’d have to play 36 tracks for it to count, which is much harder to do now since ppl already heard side A, and are mainly focusing on side B right now
Dec 23, 2020 I agree to 100%, and this is one of the reasons why I don't really dig Gnat. The quality of his recordings sound weird. (I don't know if there are any mixing nerds in here, but: ) I actually had a look at the soundwave of Discombobulated and you can tell, they really pushed the mids to make the vocals pop out more. You're not really supposed to do that, it's actually dumb, because Em's vocals are loud enough on those tracks. It does change the sound of his microphone. Gnat is weird, because it sounds a little like he's rapping to backround music and not to a fully mixed beat imo.
Dec 23, 2020 Totally in inappropriate with an opiate Groping it while I’m holding it like a trophy SCHWINGGGG
