Dec 21, 2020 "Higher" is OK, the chorus just sounds like a bunch of noise. Not toppin "Till I Collapse". "Favorite b----" had such a strong start, and the beat is nice, but the hook just came along...smh. RAP YOUR HOOKS, EMINEM. The beginning bars of "These Demons" are real nice. "Zeus" might have the beat, and the lines "I love conflict, got an obnoxious subconscious, I'm afraid to unlock it" are real nice. Probably "Book of Rhymes". Don't really have a favorite, though, that one just sounds nicest to me.
Dec 21, 2020 I liked it for what it was cause it sounded like em was actually talking about a person that exists and it's nice to hear dre again lol
Dec 21, 2020 It's gonna be interesting to see song rankings on this album cause I have a feeling it's gonna vary wildly
Dec 21, 2020 I feel ya. Maybe I'm just not in the "mood" for this album... And I just checked out that "Key" skit and it's just like...some weird dissonance?? You're over here talking about swag and haters and money piling up one second on some trap beats, then you have that skit and "Alfred's Theme" and "Tone Deaf" and like...people in this thread say this is one of his more consistent albums? I don't see it.
Dec 21, 2020 And I know Eminem's always been the funny man, the comedian, yadda yadda, but it feels a bit off for me. It doesn't mix well. What can I say, it's new Eminem music, but I'm already looking forward to the next project. Or am I? I don't even know anymore. I miss the Kamikaze era
Dec 21, 2020 I mean it's cool if you don't like it lol I probably don't like some s--- everyone in this forum loves and I think people mean consistent not necessarily in sound or subject matter but the quality is consistent to people
Dec 21, 2020 What's your album rankings for him? I think it would be interesting to know where your tastes are aligned when it comes to all the different eras em has where he sounds like a completely different person lol
Dec 21, 2020 Rap your hooks ?? Lol. Yeah everybody would love 16 tracks of hard rapping verses in between rapping hooks. Those hooks are breather dude. Plus, you can rap your hooks when you release your album. Em won't rap his hooks on every track, deal with it lol.
Dec 21, 2020 You know what I mean, don't argue semantics. He knows how to make his voice sound good for choruses yet he uses these dudes who don't fit him at all.
Dec 21, 2020 That's your opinion. I liked those hooks. It's impossible to make all of you happy. Some of you hate Em's singing hooks, some of you hate it whenever he uses featured hooks etc. Who cares. All I know is it'd be worse if all the tracks on an album had the same kind of hooks. The point is let the man do his thing. Stop saying bs like he should do this and do that. You're a listener, don't like it don't listen. He is the artist he does whatever he pleases. If you want rapping hooks do it yourself lol.
Dec 21, 2020 Exactly. "Lose Yourself" is still his biggest and most iconic hook, and it's rapped. He used to make creative use of his voice, and not always try to sing or sample a singer. "White America"... "The Way I Am", these songs feel huge and the hooks are a huge part of them. He hasn't stopped trying to sing or at least sing elements of hooks since 2010.
Dec 21, 2020 But TES for example... do you consider the hooks sounding samey? or that you need a breather? Look at the variety of hooks and how different they all sound, yet all suit the songs and all rapped - white america, cleanin out my closet, business, without me...
Dec 21, 2020 TES had a slower rapping compared to his recent stuff. So, less room for breather was needed. His hooks were not really rapping all the time neither. White America hook was half rapping and half shouting "White America" so it was kind of a breather. Cleanin' Out My Closet is him singing in a close to rapping fashion again a breather. Don't tell me Till I Collapse was not better than any of those in terms of hooks anyway.
Dec 21, 2020 The "8 Mile Road" hook is f---ing perfection. Can never NOT rap that hook alongside him.
Dec 21, 2020 Eminem rap hooks >>>>>>>>>>> And they're actually way more catchy than his sung ones. Relapse hooks were amazing, all of them
